After gaining the power to alter lives during the first chapter of “Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time“, you can now take on side missions in both the capital and Eternia Village. Certain missions require a particular life, so it would be beneficial if you’ve already unlocked the Gathering Lives (if not, do so).
In the initial stage of this role-playing game, “Fantasy Life i,” there’s a mission called “The Woodcutter’s Quest.” This mission asks you to give a Oak Axe to someone. You can acquire an Oak Axe in various ways, but for this specific quest, you’ll need to leverage your Crafting Lives abilities.
Where to Find Oak Axe
Where to Buy Tools
There are a few ways you can get a free Oak Axe in Fantasy Life i:
- If you’ve unlocked the Woodcutter Class, you’ll start out with a Borrowed Axe. Upon completing the first Woodcutter quest, “Song for the Forest Lady,” you’ll be given an Oak Axe.
- If you cut down trees in Mysteria, there’s a slight chance they will drop a treasure chest containing a tool/weapon. One potential loot is the Oak Axe.
If you have the Dosh, you can buy an Oak Axe from the following stores in Mysteria:
Location | Quality | Cost | |
---|---|---|---|
Tool Shop | Mysteria Capital | Ordinary | 900 |
Luxurious Shop | Mysteria Capital | Notable | 5000 |
General Goods | Eternia Village | Ordinary | 900 |
How to Get a Good Quality Oak Axe
Understanding How Crafting Works

To craft an Oak Axe, it’s beneficial to have the Carpenter profession. Additionally, acquiring the Woodcutter and Miner professions will allow you to gather the required materials instead of buying them. Lastly, you may require the Blacksmith profession to shape the materials for the Oak Axe.
If you opt for a Common-grade Oak Axe rather than a Finer one, there’s no requirement for a Bronze Ingot in the crafting process.
Once you finish the “Fledgling Carpenter Skills” quest, you’ll receive an Oak Saw. Although you can create lower-tier tools with this saw, it would be wise to make a new, higher-ranked and (if achievable) superior quality Oak Saw instead. If you prefer not to craft it yourself, you can purchase one from the Luxurious Store located in the capital city.
To craft an ordinary Oak Axe, gather 3 pieces of Oak Lumber. For a finer quality Oak Axe, assemble 3 Oak Lumber and 2 Ingot. You can purchase these materials from the goods store and blacksmith, but if you’re on a budget, consider acquiring the Woodcutter, Miner, and Blacksmith lives instead to produce your own resources.
Every crafting guide comes with a suggested proficiency level. For instance, the Fine Oak Axe falls under the Lv 1 Carpenter Recipe, but it’s ideal to ensure your Carpentry Life skill is close to 140 for optimal results. Since you might need a more potent tool for crafting, in this case, consider using an Oak Saw.
Crafting Minigame Tips

In the mini-game for creating items, aim to achieve ‘Superior’ and ‘Outstanding’ results as frequently as you can. This requires speed and precision. Be ready to press the action key when signaled at the designated workstations. Keep in mind that you’re being timed, so make sure not to delay your responses.
Above your character’s image, you’ll find labels for each station during a round. For instance, you might notice two images: one of a saw followed by a hammer. In most cases, it would be simpler to watch your character and move them to the station when a corresponding button prompt appears.
Upon finishing the game, you may receive any of these feedbacks: Failure, Completed, Well Done, or Exceptional Job. When designing weapons, tools, or armor, your aim should be to achieve the ‘Well Done’ or ‘Exceptional Job’ rating. If you consistently earn marks for Excellent and Exceptional during mini-games, you’ll probably end up with a high-quality item.
A Woodcutter Needs an Axe Walkthrough
Where to Find Wurke
Once Auntie Ann assigns you the mission of gathering 10,000 Dosh, you’ll notice quest markers floating above certain Non-Player Characters (NPCs) in Eternia Village and the capital. If you take a look near the fountain outside the Guild Hall, you’ll encounter a man named Wurke. By engaging him in conversation, you’ll be given the “A Woodcutter Needs an Axe” side quest.
In my gaming world, I came across a character named Wurke who requires an Oak Axe, but not just any ordinary one will do. He’s particular about the quality – it has to have either ‘Good’ or ‘Great’ marked on it. Unfortunately, the market doesn’t sell such high-quality axes, so I’ll need to craft one myself or find a blacksmith who can create an Oak Axe with that specific quality grade.
Using Carpenter Life, craft an Oak Axe provided you have all necessary materials. Disregard whether it’s a standard or premium recipe; focus on swiftly and precisely completing the mini-game to produce a High-Quality Oak Axe instead.
If you’re consistently earning Excellent and Great scores in the mining game but can’t manage to obtain the Good quality Oak Axe, it could be that your Carpenter’s tool (let’s say the Saw) needs improvement. You have two options: boost your Carpenter level via the Skills menu or craft a High-Quality Saw to ensure its skill level aligns with the Oak Axe you are attempting to create.
After obtaining the appropriate Oak Axe, bring it to Wurke, and in return, you will receive 400 Dosh and the blueprint for the Bountiful Harvest Box as a reward.
On occasion, top-tier weapons may come with a randomly assigned ability like Woodcutting+. Even though Wurke requires a Good/Great Oak Axe for his tasks, it’s wise to avoid handing him an axe if it has such an ability on it. The Woodcutting+ effect on an Axe isn’t worth 400 Dosh or a crafting recipe, so remember to inspect your tools before you submit them.
