In the upcoming weeks, we can expect more character unveilings, adding depth and diversity to this dynamic team. Here are the key characters confirmed so far, along with their roles and Personas as currently understood.

Persona 5: The Phantom X’s Rollout Maintains the Franchise Spirit of Diversity

  • Wonder
  • Motoha Arai
  • Luffy
  • Yukimi Fujikawa
  • Kotone Montagne
  • Seiji Shiratori
  • Kayo Tomiyama
  • Mayumi Hashimoto
  • Riko Tanemura

Wonder (Protagonist)

Under the alias of Wonder, our unspoken hero is a sophomore at Kiba Academy who’s grappling with discovering his purpose in life. Similar to Joker’s Wild Card skill, Wonder can control various Personas, each representing evolving aspects of their character. Previews hint at the first Persona (Jánošík), but its ultimate title is yet to be decided. As team captain, Wonder strives to harmonize everyday school life with Metaverse operations, leading the fresh Phantom Thieves in their burglaries.

Motoha Arai

Motoha Arai, also known as Closer, is the initial ally to join Wonder’s group. She is a second-year classmate who is easily recognized by her endless vigor and unwavering positivity. Her Persona, Awilda, excels in quick melee attacks and boosting teammates, which makes her essential during close combat situations. Motoha’s mission focuses on demonstrating more than just enthusiasm, strengthening the ties of collaboration under intense conditions.

Luffy

In this reimagined version of the game, Luffy serves as our Metaverse Guide, much like Morgana did in the original. He’s a guardian with an owl-like appearance. Found on a rooftop, Luffy can morph into a speedy motorcycle-shaped vehicle for quick escapes and movement. His persona, Rob Roy, equips him with support skills and scouting capabilities. This enables the Thieves to collect vital battlefield information and uncover secret routes within the cognitive palaces, hidden from plain sight.

Yukimi Fujikawa

Yukimi Fujikawa, often referred to as Styx, is a unique character who combines an air of mystery with reliable healing abilities. She’s a student of media studies who has a particular interest in digital legends, and she uses her persona, Styx, to manipulate ether and rejuvenate the health of her allies. Although her initial appearance during limited playtests adds an enigma around her character, Yukimi suggests that there might be intricate ties between contemporary technology and ancient mythology within the Metaverse, hinting at a deeper narrative.

Kotone Montagne

As Mont, Kotone Montagne, I blend my artistic background in theater with my gaming skills. Known for my captivating performances at school festivals, I dance through battles using the Persona Terpsichore, leaving enemies reeling from my graceful, area-of-effect combat moves. My character journey delves into the struggle between my public image and personal vulnerability, emphasizing the importance of authenticity and self-expression.

Seiji Shiratori

As a devoted fan, let me share that I’m all about Seiji Shiratori, alias Leucothea, our tactical mastermind. A brilliant mind honed in strategic games circles, he deftly wields his Persona Leucothea to erect defensive shields and manipulate the enemy’s moves. Unlike some of my more impulsive comrades, Seiji maintains a composed, systematic strategy. His story, however, isn’t just about individual prowess; it’s about learning to rely on the collective power of the group instead of relying solely on solitary problem-solving.

Kayo Tomiyama

Kayo Tohyama, also known as Okyann, is a 44-year-old housewife who has transitioned into a guide in the Metaverse. In her previous life, she was a well-known fashion designer. Now, under the persona of Cleodora, she empowers allies with illusionary clothing that boosts evasion and charm. Her inclusion in Phantom X highlights the game’s commitment to bridging generation gaps and reinforcing the idea that heroism knows no age.

Mayumi Hashimoto

17-year-old Mayumi Hashimoto, also known as Turbo, zooms through the passageways of the Metaverse utilizing her persona Pytis for rapid, power-charged attacks. A budding track team sensation at school, her story delves into the burden of achieving success and the temptation of easy solutions. The fierce combative style of Mayumi, who strives to outrun both opponents and self-doubt, adds an exciting element to the Phantom Thieves group.

Riko Tanemura

In Chapter 3, Riko Tanemura, the student council president, comes aboard as the strategic guide for our team. Renowned for her calm demeanor and keen mind, she introduces Persona Alecto – a character whose powers shift enemy attention and distort reality. The influence Riko holds at Kokatsu Academy hints at her significant contribution to strategizing heists and preserving team unity as Metaverse dangers intensify.
