The finale of “The Last of Us” season two has passed, leaving numerous fans content and eager for future developments. A significant twist is that the series isn’t quite prepared to conclude the narrative just yet, as there are still many unresolved characters and storylines from the game waiting to be depicted on the screen.
Just like the second video game, season two is a thrilling emotional journey that packs a lot of sorrow and distress into only seven episodes. It offers several striking performances and accurate portrayals of some of the game’s most memorable scenes, setting the bar quite high. In fact, certain episodes exceed even the expectations of die-hard fans.
Spoiler Warning: Major plot details about the show and the game will be discussed in this article
7. Future Days – Episode 1
A Tense Happy New Year

In the second season, events began unfolding gradually, focusing on the aftermath of the turmoil at the end of the previous season, as well as introducing a handful of fresh characters within the town of Jackson. It becomes evident that Joel and Ellie harbor some tension, but the cause of their strained relationship isn’t made clear until later in the series.
From my perspective as a fan, this episode offers a serene re-entry into the post-apocalyptic world, introducing the intriguing new type of stalker zombies and subtly escalating the danger posed by the infected. It’s delightful to witness the budding friendship between Dina and Ellie, which gradually evolves into something deeper. The episode avoids overreaching and instead effectively lays the groundwork for the exciting developments that lie ahead.
6. The Path – Episode 3
Pressing On Through The Pain

In episode three, Ellie undergoes a substantial change that was initially emerging. After experiencing Joel’s death directly and having the ability to prevent it, the series leaps forward by three months, depicting her as physically and presumably mentally healed. When given the chance to pursue Abby, Ellie and Dina swiftly embark on their journey across open roads, driven by a thirst for revenge.
In my opinion, this captivating episode showcases remarkable character and narrative development. Even after suffering significant setbacks at the hands of both the infected and Abby’s group, the town exhibits an incredible resilience, striving to persevere in any way possible. It serves as a testament to their determination to endure, even amidst unimaginable hardships. Yet, Ellie’s response to these trials takes a unique turn, as she becomes driven by a desire for retribution, seeking justice for the family she has lost.
5. Day One – Episode 4
Ellie’s Secret Finally Revealed

On Day One, audiences are introduced to Isaac Dixon, a merciless WLF leader who harbors intense hatred towards the Seraphites and their rebellious group. In barely five minutes of screen time, his brutality is evident as he cold-bloodedly slaughters an entire FEDRA platoon and subjected a captured Seraphite to excruciating pain with boiling water, revealing his willingness to go to great extremes in pursuit of his desires.
The episode further reveals that Ellie is immune to Dina, a detail that had been hidden before, leading to a tense confrontation where Ellie begs Dina to delay and witness the truth. The atmosphere remains thick with tension throughout, and the inclusion of infected characters in a confined space like the subway station enhances the horror and raw nature of the scene.
4. Convergence – Episode 7
The End Of The Road

In the seventh episode of the season, things wrap up dramatically, both physically and symbolically. Most characters return safely to the theater, and Ellie and Jesse come up with a plan to find Tommy, allowing Dina time to heal from her wounds. Throughout their discussions, Jesse argues for his ethical stance and justification as a force of good, contrasting sharply with Ellie’s impulsive choices.
Following much hardship, she encounters and brutally slays two members of Abby’s group in a chilling act. Subsequently, Abby confronts her for her actions in an unforeseen turn of events. This unexpected twist leaves the show hanging on a respectable cliffhanger, but the episode grapples with how to depict Ellie – as a cold-blooded killer or a tormented emotional wreck.
3. Feel Her Love – Episode 5
No Longer Just An Infected Bite

In “Feel Her Love,” Ellie and Dina find themselves coming across a band of cunning Stalkers, revealing their enhanced intellect further than before. Caught unaware, they’re rescued by Tommy who swiftly extracts them from the dangerous situation. With infected, military forces, and WLF soldiers all present, they make their escape into Seraphite territory – a chilling mix of primitive living and oppressive militarism.
Following a lengthy odyssey fraught with near-encounters with adversaries, Ellie ultimately experiences her long-desired retribution by pursuing Nora into a sealed-off region hinted at earlier episodes. Here, she observes the transformation of the virus from being transmitted physically via bites to a more potent, airborne form as spores. A back-and-forth dialogue ensues between them, and Ellie’s genuine feelings surface, blurring the lines between hero and villain in this narrative.
2. The Price – Episode 6
Emotional Flashbacks And Shocking Revelations

As a film enthusiast, I found “The Price” to be remarkably captivating, as it primarily delves into flashbacks spanning the past few years, meticulously unfolding Ellie and Joel’s relationship and the gradual emergence of their once warm bond into a chilling distance. Several poignant birthday scenes are skillfully woven together, depicting their camaraderie as they found solace in life’s simple pleasures, and the love between them was palpable and unwavering.
In this installment, I was privy to an emotionally taxing moment between Eugene and myself, which led me to make a difficult choice – ending Eugene’s life without allowing him a chance to bid farewell to his wife. This revelation, along with Ellie’s confrontation that finally resolved their issues, shed light on some previously unanswered questions. The episode was a poignant send-off for me, expressing our deep bond in the most impactful manner imaginable, instilling respect and love as I moved forward.
1. Through The Valley – Episode 2
Gripping Action And Heartbreak All In One

As a devoted fan, I can confidently say there’s nothing quite like “Through The Valley” among all other episodes. It delivers an unparalleled blend of intense action, suspense, and emotional depth. I found myself on the edge of my seat as a relentless horde of infected pursued survivors into narrow escape routes. The harrowing scene where Jackson was besieged by thousands of Clickers left me breathless. And who could forget the poignant first and last confrontation between Abby and Joel, a moment that marked the end of his life and ignited Ellie’s quest for vengeance, driving her story forward.
The intense feelings and suffering, compacted into just one episode, left everyone spellbound with the exceptional acting displays. The cast breathed life into the characters uniquely, a feat only they could achieve. This emotional turmoil, juxtaposed against the town’s upheaval and the unveiling of the Bloater, truly sets this episode apart as it exceeded all expectations and wishes.
