Nintendo has recently unveiled the updated list of compatible games for the Switch 2, but it seems that a handful of popular titles are yet to be fully optimized. The arrival of the new and upgraded Switch 2 hardware has brought about some minor complications, such as startup problems, in-game glitches, and certain games that necessitate the use of Joy-Cons from the original Switch.
As a devoted fan, I find the collection of games Nintendo has shared on their PDFs quite impressive, yet there are some challenges that need addressing. These games are either under investigation or slated for resolution through updates. With the eagerly anticipated launch of the Switch 2 console, it remains uncertain how many of these games will still face compatibility issues.
Nintendo Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility Roadmap
Nintendo has categorized the compatibility issues for each game into three separate PDF documents, clearly indicating their current status, and they assure us that they are actively working on enhancing compatibility, collaborating with both publishers and developers to achieve this goal. Here are the full lists:
- Games with start-up issues on Nintendo Switch 2
- Games that are playable, but have some in-game compatibility issues
- Games with issues that are planned to be addressed by launch or shortly after
As a gamer, I’ve got a heads-up for you: There are a few games that require the use of your Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons to play. For instance, I personally enjoy getting moving with WarioWare: Move It!, having a grand time with Nintendo Switch Sports, and embarking on adventures with Ring Fit Adventure.
On the new Nintendo Switch 2, you’ll be able to use your Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers and additional accessories like the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller just as easily. All you need is a wireless connection to the system for seamless play.
Although there might still be lingering issues related to backwards compatibility, it’s evident that Nintendo is proactively addressing these problems, which should result in a significantly reduced list of troubles when the console officially launches on June 5th. The Switch 2 will boast an ample storage capacity of 256 GB and some impressive hardware enhancements upon its release.
The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a considerable upgrade in its CPU and GPU capabilities, leading to swifter processing speeds and paving the way for innovative, visually stunning gameplay. This enhancement allows for more intricate graphics and speedier load times.
