Nintendo has unveiled upcoming enhancements for N64 games on the Nintendo Switch Online’s Nintendo Classics library following the launch of the next-generation Nintendo Switch. Although some of these advancements will exclusively function on the next-gen Nintendo Switch, a highly anticipated feature, the option to customize and adjust controls, will be accessible on both the current and upcoming devices.

Back in 2021, I upgraded my Nintendo Online subscription to the “Expansion Pack,” unlocking a world of nostalgia with access to classic Nintendo 64 games! Titles like “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” and “Super Mario 64” were now at my fingertips. Plus, it originally offered Sega Genesis games too, and later even threw in some Game Boy Advance titles for good measure. Just recently, Nintendo announced that these Nintendo 64 games on the Switch 2 will be getting some exciting new features!

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement as Nintendo has finally revealed a sneak peek at the new features coming with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5! The video showcases some impressive changes that will exclusively be available on the Switch 2. One of the standout features is the ability to rewind games on the Nintendo 64, something I’ve personally been waiting for! And let me tell you, the new CRT filter makes it feel like I’m playing these classics on a real-life CRT TV.

The rewind feature appears user-friendly, as it saves snapshots of past game moments, allowing me to choose and go back to those instances if I mess up. But what really caught my attention is the ability to customize the controls for N64 games on both Switch consoles. This is something the community has long been asking for, and Nintendo is finally addressing it! Can’t wait to get my hands on the Switch 2 and dive back into some classic gaming.

Once the Switch Version 2 is unveiled, it’s expected that Nintendo Switch Online will include GameCube games as well. Initially, fan favorites like “F-Zero GX,” “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker,” and “Soulcalibur 2” are set to be made available. Further down the line, titles such as “Luigi’s Mansion” and “Super Mario Sunshine” will also join the roster. However, it’s important to note that only Switch 2 users subscribed to the Expansion Pack will have access to these newly added games.

In addition to the games available on Nintendo Switch Online, gamers can expect a few titles to be launched simultaneously with the Nintendo Switch 2. Among them are highly anticipated games like “Mario Kart World,” as well as some that are already familiar from other platforms, such as “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition,” “Hogwarts Legacy,” “Street Fighter 6,” and “Split Fiction.” Others will also be included.
