Jesse’s death was swift and brutal, yet his character development was complete, and in the vicious cycle of violence depicted in The Last of Us Part 2, Abby sought retribution for all those she had lost over the past few days.

Jesse isn’t the only character who suffers from the consequences of revenge, nor is he the sole father-to-be who meets an untimely end. Regardless, Jesse was one of the most upright and virtuous characters in “The Last of Us” and his absence leaves a void that has noticeably darkened the world.

Jesse Serves His Role as a Dutiful Companion to Its Bitter End in The Last of Us Part 2

In a hypothetical scenario where Jesse was alive, it’s possible that Dina and Ellie might not have moved away to a farmhouse, as they might have wanted to keep Jesse involved in JJ’s life, considering he is JJ’s father. However, Jesse’s untimely demise left an opening for Dina and Ellie to step up and become the sole parents of JJ.

In an alternate scenario, if Jesse hadn’t perished in “The Last of Us Part 2”, the world we see could have taken a significantly different turn.

In a hypothetical scenario for “The Last of Us Part 3,” it seems clear that Dina and Ellie might raise JJ together, with Jesse being absent due to his presumed non-existence.
