Summary
- League of Legends is facing significant backlash from fans over the pricing of the recently announced “Immortalized Legend” Kai’Sa skin.
- The skin follows up on last year’s Hall of Legends event, with a new Kai’Sa skin honoring Uzi priced at more than $400 for its most expensive bundle.
- The response to the announcement was filled with fans lashing out against Riot Games, suggesting Riot doesn’t care about the fans and calling for executive resignations.
Enthusiasts of “League of Legends” are expressing their dissatisfaction over one of the latest World Championship skins being introduced to the game, as Kai’Sa’s outfit has a high price tag that some find excessive. A significant portion of the revenue for this massively played MOBA by Riot Games is generated through the various skins offered for characters. Many of the older “League of Legends” characters have amassed numerous new skins, frequently exceeding ten different styles. However, a specific skin has gained notoriety in the game for being particularly costly.
One of the most contentious issues surrounding the popular game League of Legends arose after the launch of the 2024 “Hall of Legends” event. This campaign recognized what many consider to be the greatest competitive player in League of Legends history, by inducting Faker as the inaugural member of the League of Legends hall of fame and offering a unique Ahri skin as part of the honor. However, this Ahri skin, named “Immortalized Legend,” faced heavy criticism from fans due to its high price tag of approximately $450 USD, set by Riot Games. Now, one of League of Legends’ latest skins rekindles that controversy.
According to PCGamesN, Riot Games has unveiled its latest “Legend Immortalized” skin, a tribute to professional player Uzi, which features a Kai’Sa skin with a comparable high cost. This Kai’Sa skin will make its debut during the new “Hall of Legends” event for League of Legends. The price ranges for the event’s bundles stretch from $40 USD to the premium “signature bundle” at $435 USD. Alongside this, Riot Games is set to launch a Uzi-themed battle pass during the event, encompassing the “Risen Legend” Vayne skin and several other skins for League of Legends. The “Hall of Legends 2025” event in League of Legends will commence on June 11.
Fans Not Happy About League of Legends’ New “Hall of Legends” Skin
The response from fans towards Kai’Sa’s skin has mirrored the reaction to Faker’s skin, with numerous fans voicing disapproval over the cost. Riot Games’ official announcement post has been inundated with fans mocking and criticizing the company, expressing anger not only about the skin itself but also accusing Riot of being greedy. Many argue that Riot no longer values its player base, suggesting they should prioritize enhancing the core gameplay or even demanding the resignation of Riot Games’ new president.
The Kai’Sa bundle controversy pays tribute, albeit expensively, to a player highly esteemed as one of the best “AD Carry” players in League of Legends history – Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao. Uzi, a Chinese prodigy, spent over a decade excelling in the game with RNG. His team won numerous seasons of the Chinese LPL and came second at the 2014 World Championships. However, while Uzi’s achievements are undoubtedly legendary within League of Legends, the costly tribute is another addition to one of the game’s ongoing controversies.
