Initially, when EA Sports UFC 5 debuted, it got a mix of positive and negative feedback from both experts and gamers. However, one issue that was frequently raised by fans was the limited number of fighters in the game. Fortunately, the developers acknowledged this concern and have consistently provided free updates to address it, gradually increasing the roster of ranked combatants every month. Now, more than two years after the release of EA Sports UFC 5, EA Vancouver reports that the game has almost reached a 98% match with the current top ten rankings in UFC.
Although it seems that the UFC title is nearing its end, EA Vancouver is still providing updates for the game EA Sports UFC 5. The upcoming patch, numbered 1.23, will be released on May 29 at 1 PM ET, as confirmed by the studio. Excitingly, this update will introduce a new fighter to the game, Sean Woodson from the UFC Featherweight division. At 32 years old, Woodson has a professional record of 13 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, with 7 victories coming in the UFC. Sadly, his most recent fight ended in a loss against Dan Ige during UFC 314’s third round.
The update will contain several bug fixes, including a resolution for an issue causing online matches to show “Did Not Finish” results when switching user profiles. Additionally, EA Vancouver has addressed some minor clipping issues with certain Alter Egos in EA Sports UFC 5 and adjusted the colors of the clock UI’s trunks to better match those worn by the fighters. The current version of EA Sports UFC, which continues to receive regular updates, is rumored to have a successor in the works – EA Sports UFC 6. Insiders close to the development claim that the game is already being fully produced and could potentially be released as early as 2025. Given that new games in the series typically drop every 2-3 years, this timeline aligns well with previous releases starting from the initial EA Sports UFC launch in 2014. Therefore, an official announcement for EA Sports UFC 6 might be right around the corner.
