According to Bloober Team, they are still actively developing an improvement update specifically for the PlayStation 5 Pro version of the Silent Hill 2 remake. The initial patch for this game had significant issues with visual quality, and after six months, there have been no substantial enhancements noticed when running it on the mid-generation console.
When the PS5 Pro was released towards the end of 2024, it was announced that many games, including a remake of Silent Hill 2, would take advantage of its more powerful hardware. However, gamers found that not only was there no substantial visual improvement in the remake, but surprisingly, it ran worse on the PS5 Pro compared to the regular PS5. This unexpected degradation included a noticeable shimmering effect and flickering reflections, caused by problems with the implementation of PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) in the Silent Hill 2 remake.
In response to the criticism, Bloober Team issued Patch 1.06 for the Silent Hill 2 remake in November 2024, aimed at resolving some of the graphical issues on PS5 Pro. Although the update alleviated some problems, the shimmering effect remained. Recently, Bloober Team has spoken up about Silent Hill 2’s PS5 Pro patch via Eurogamer.
