Summary

  • Joy Boy, Gol D. Roger, and Monkey D. Luffy can hear the Voice of All Things and communicate with beings through it.
  • Kozuki Oden was vital in translating Ancient Script and Road Poneglyphs for the Roger Pirates.
  • Three-Eye Tribe members like Charlotte Pudding can awaken the ability to hear the Voice of All Things.

In the world of One Piece, there’s a unique ability known as The Voice of All Things, which only a few characters possess. This power enables them to decipher messages from animals and inanimate objects that are typically inaudible to others. Some characters can even respond to these communicators, although it’s uncertain if this is considered a separate ability. Here, we’ll be discussing characters known to have the ability to hear The Voice of All Things.

The talent in question appears versatile, with the main character Monkey D. Luffy learning parts of it relatively late, while some other characters have encountered it more frequently. It’s an exceptionally scarce ability, and much about it remains unexplained. However, this uncommon skill seems to be revealed to important characters, and its impact may grow as the series progresses.

6. Joy Boy

The First Pirate

  • Joy Boy was affiliated with multiple figures who seem to interact exclusively with users of The Voice of All Things.

Joy Boy, once in possession of the One Piece and the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is a legendary figure from times past. He vehemently opposed the founders of what eventually became the World Government, the First Twenty, as well as the Celestial Dragons who held power over them. In numerous aspects, Luffy is perceived as a modern-day successor to Joy Boy, embodying many of his traits, such as freedom and joviality. Joy Boy possessed the power to hear the Voice of All Things, which he used to communicate with at least two companions who still live today. Furthermore, Joy Boy seemed to comprehend Ancient Scripture, as he left a message of apology for breaking his promise to Fish-Man Island regarding the ship called Noah.

Among these companions, there was Zunesha – a colossal elephant who carries the island of Zou on his back as a form of atonement for an undisclosed transgression from long ago. The other was Emet, an automaton whom Joy Boy had a strong affection for, even demonstrating a unique talent to bind his haki within the robot for possible future application several centuries hence. Although much about Joy Boy remains mysterious, one of his characteristics that resembles Luffy is his capacity to perceive the Voice of All Things.

5. Gol D. Roger

The King Of The Pirates

  • Roger heard the Voice of All Things and showed the ability to “hear” beings communicating through this medium.

Gol D. Roger, who led the crew known as the Roger Pirates, discovered the legendary treasure called One Piece and was crowned the Pirate King as a result. It’s believed that his unique ability to hear the Voice of All Things aided him in this quest, as it allowed him to find the Road Poneglyphs. Despite this talent, he wasn’t proficient in ancient script, which prevented him from reading them directly.

The inscriptions on the Road Poneglyphs hold the key to locating the mysterious island where the One Piece was concealed – Laugh Tale. Notably, Roger, like both Sea Kings and Zunesha, could understand their voices. Apart from Luffy, Roger is the only character whose D. initial has been verified as being able to perceive such a voice.

4. Kozuki Oden

The Daimyo Of Kuri

  • A member of the Kozuki Family, the rulers of Wano and historical inventors of the Poneglyphs.

Kozuki Oden, originally hailed from the nation of Wano, was a daimyo who defied traditional authority and showcased immense power. He had been in line to become the next Shogun of Wano, following his father, Sukiyaki. Yet, the realm of Wano seemed too confined for Oden’s ambitions, leading him to embark on a journey with the Whitebeard Pirates and later, the Roger Pirates.

With Roger by his side, Oden gained the ability to hear the Voice of all creatures, much like Roger himself could. He was also well-versed in the ancient language that the Poneglyphs were inscribed with, as his ancestors played a significant role in their creation. Oden proved indispensable in deciphering the mysteries hidden within the Poneglyphs for the crew led by Roger. Unfortunately, during his time away, Kurozumi Orochi seized power and became Shogun. However, Oden’s legacy lived on through his son, who eventually ascended to the position of Shogun and inherited his father’s unique ability to hear the Voice of All Things.

3. Kozuki Momonosuke

The Shogun Of Wano

  • Son of Oden, presumed to have the ability due to his interactions with Zunesha and a seemingly unconscious Luffy.

Because Orochi seized control and aimed to execute any Kozuki family members, Momonosuke was sent to a future time period, where he spent his youth traveling with four of Oden’s loyal retainers. Momonosuke managed to communicate with Zunesha, the giant elephant, and give it commands, which is crucial for it to perform actions beyond just walking. In this scenario, Momonosuke utilized a power that enabled him to annihilate the attacking Beasts Pirates’ fleet, thus allowing Zunesha to successfully protect itself.

In a surprising turn of events, Momonosuke appeared to understand a comforting message from Luffy following their first encounter, suggesting he would return to vanquish Kaido. This skill seems connected to the Voice of All Things. Following Orochi’s downfall and the dissipation of Kaido’s control, Momonosuke ascended as the Shogun of Wano.

2. Monkey D. Luffy

The Straw Hat Emperor

  • Like Roger and Joy Boy before him, Luffy has also shown himself to be capable of this mysterious ability.

The charismatic leader of the Straw Hat Pirates, Monkey D. Luffy, is generally well-known without much need for an introduction. On various occasions, his extraordinary power to hear the Voice of All Creatures has been demonstrated, with one of the earliest instances being his ability to comprehend the commands given by Shirahoshi to the Sea Kings. Furthermore, he has shown understanding towards Zunesha and Emet as well.

It’s probable that he’ll employ this skill for more practical uses down the line, possibly connected to the locations of different Poneglyphs or communicating with future allies whose language we might not easily comprehend. For now, it’s been shrouded in mystery, and we don’t fully grasp the limits of its power yet.

1. The Three-Eye Tribe

A Nearly Extinct Race

  • An unseen race, said to be innately capable of “awakening the ability,” thus far solely represented by Charlotte Pudding (half-human).

The enigmatic “Three-Eye tribe” has remained hidden in the storyline of “One Piece” so far. They are among the few almost extinct races within the series, along with the Buccaneers and the Lunarians. This tribe possesses a unique ability: they can naturally awaken the Voice of All Things through a method that has yet to be detailed.

Charlotte, known as “Big Mom,” married a male Three-Eyed individual as her 35th spouse, who went on to father her daughter, Pudding. Due to the third eye, Pudding was often teased, even by her mother, causing her to usually hide it beneath her hair. Yet, Big Mom sees this trait as potentially beneficial because of the mentioned awakening. Nevertheless, since Pudding is only half Three-Eyed, she questions if she possesses the ability to utilize it in such a way.

It’s plausible that the Three-Eyes species might have been driven close to extinction due to persecution by the World Government, similar to how the Buccaneers are nearly gone. Furthermore, it’s worth considering whether Mary Geoise was constructed on what used to be Lunarian land could be linked to this persecution. This persecution might have been prompted by the unique ability of Three-Eyes to hear the Voice of All Things, a trait that sets them apart.
