Previously, college football made a triumphant comeback with EA Sports College Football 25, and much like its elder sibling Madden NFL, it’s now an annual series. College Football 25 was an excellent game, albeit not perfect, and EA Sports is aiming to further improve it with the release of EA Sports College Football 26 this year. Featuring Alabama WR Ryan Williams and Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith on its cover, EA Sports College Football 26 resonates with the fervor shared by football enthusiasts and developers alike.
Game Rant recently paid a visit to EA’s location in Orlando, where we were given an exclusive, preliminary playthrough of EA Sports College Football 26, following a comprehensive explanation of all the enhancements, updates, and novel aspects. During my time there, I had the opportunity to engage in a simulated Iron Bowl game between Alabama and Auburn, as well as take control of my former university, Jacksonville State University. The experience was every bit as intense, action-packed, and physically engaging as college football enthusiasts would anticipate, and the most exciting aspect is that there’s even more to come!
EA Sports College Football 26 Features
Following the announcement of both its release date and cover star, EA Sports College Football 26 unveiled some exciting features for the upcoming title. These range from representing all 136 FBS schools to more than 300 real-world coaches, as well as expanded player types and abilities. The game will also see the return of wear and tear, enhanced AI, dynamic play-calling adjustments, and dynamic substitutions. Additionally, it offers improved blocking/coverage systems, custom zones, a revamped stadium pulse system, 160 school-specific chants, and 10 new PA tracks. But that’s just the beginning – fans can look forward to more updates on modes like Road to Glory, Dynasty, College Football Ultimate Team, and others in the coming weeks.
As a die-hard football fan, nothing beats the excitement of attending a live game or cheering with my loved ones at home, yelling “Roll Tide” or “War Eagle” back and forth. But EA Sports College Football 26 comes pretty darn close! It’s explosive, authentic, and delivers on everything the developers promised – at least in my brief time with it.
Scott O’Gallagher, the creative director, told me that “presentation is gameplay, and gameplay is presentation.” Well, they certainly nailed it! It didn’t just feel like a real-life college football game when I was making a pass, attempting a run, or scoring a touchdown. Every moment – from the pre-game hype, to half-time, the final whistle, and everything in between – felt like a live broadcast of a real college football matchup.
Moreover, every quality-of-life improvement really mattered. They’ve managed to smooth out many of the issues that were present in College Football 25, keeping me fully immersed in the moment-to-moment action. Simply put, EA Sports College Football 26 is an impressive attempt at capturing the essence of college football, and it does a fantastic job of it!
In essence, my experience with EA Sports College Football 26 can be encapsulated in two main points. Initially, I’m usually tardy adopting annual games such as Madden NFL, often waiting several months before getting the next installment. However, having played EA Sports College Football 26, I’m not entirely certain if I could return to CFB 25. Secondly, I don’t anticipate many fans feeling let down when updates about EA Sports College Football 26 start surfacing ahead of its July release.
On July 10, EA Sports’ College Football 26 will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Our review at Game Rant is based on an experience made possible by their travel and accommodation arrangements.
