Surprise, Elden Ring Nightreign’s first enhanced boss has arrived, kicking off weekly big baddie visits

Here it goes! The enhanced boss battles in Elden Ring Nightreign have started, and the first formidable foes from SoftAshes Studio hinted at earlier have made their appearance.

Each week, you’ll encounter the formidable Boss with the Wide Maw, who will be joined by other Everdark Rulers in a rotating schedule. This rotation showcases powerful enemies for players to challenge not only their skills but also their camaraderie.

At 6AM today (June 19th), FromSoft officially released the Everdark Sovereign variant of Gaping Jaw for combat. This is for those who have already conquered the standard version of Gaping Jaw. If you haven’t yet, consider it as a pre-megajaw challenge to prepare!

If you manage to defeat an upgraded version of Gaping Jaw, you’ll receive Sovereign Sigil tokens as your prize. You can exchange these tokens for unique artifacts and other valuable items later. Defeating each of these tough opponents for the first time will earn you a greater number of tokens compared to subsequent victories against them. To give you an idea of the challenge ahead, even skilled streamers who are known for defeating Malenia while in a handstand with only one health point and using their minds to press keys have tried their hand at this new adversary.

The trial run for Gaping Jaw ends on June 26th, at 1:59 AM British Summer Time (BST), which is equivalent to 20:59 PM Eastern Time (ET) on the same day. After this time, the improved version of Gaping Jaw will be temporarily removed, but it may return at a future date.

Next up in rotation are the enhanced versions of Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight. FromSoftware has also announced that Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and Fissure in the Fog’s Everdark Sovereigns will be added at a later date.

It’s important to mention that to fight these tougher bosses, you’ll likely need to play the game online. However, it seems that some creative minds (modders) have figured out a method to enable these bosses offline by substituting them with their standard counterparts. If you fancy battling them using modified equipment or teaming up in duos via the duos mod, you should be able to do so without any issues.

Before embarking on your first dive in some time, don’t forget to review the initial adjustments made to Nightreign and consult our guides if you feel like brushing up for a quick reminder that will bring you back to peak performance level.
