In the game Elden Ring: Nightreign, treasure troves abound for the Nightfarers to seize, as you embark on a quest to vanquish the Nightlords. However, just how remarkable can this be? A player who discovered a rare weapon and wanted to test its limits has gained internet fame by turning it into an unparalleled weapon against the Nightlords – only for it later to collapse back to nothingness.
The focus here revolves around a popular Japanese YouTuber named mintius (through Automaton Media). This individual obtained the Marais Executioner Sword, an exceptional weapon that amplifies attack strength when vanquishing foes – however, this boost is typically limited in magnitude.
Because Nightreign typically has time constraints due to its approaching storm, the power of this sword would not usually have the opportunity to escalate excessively, given that it’s a potent weapon. However, Mintius skillfully arranged the right mix of enemies and encounter spawns, enabling the power to expand as much as possible, and even beyond that limit.
According to Automaton’s interpretation, Mintius spent approximately an hour hunting mobs during the Wormface encounter using the Marais Executioner Sword. He did this to discover what might occur. With each defeated enemy numbering 725, his attack power reached a damage cap of 9,999, and the last damage value he observed was 63,375. However, upon defeating the 727th enemy, Mintius unexpectedly became incapable of inflicting any damage at all and was subsequently killed.
「For about an hour, the Marley sword, which belongs to the Marley family, was used to relentlessly hunt a school of fish-like enemies. It destroyed 727 of them and its attack power reached a maximum of 9999. However, when trying to destroy the 725th enemy, it suddenly became unable to inflict any damage on the remaining enemies and the user died as a result. Upon checking the status, the displayed attack power of the Marley sword was 63,375.」

A commonly proposed explanation is that Mintius encountered a “limit,” beyond which he started causing damage from the minimum instead of the maximum, much like how it’s said that Gandhi in Civilization would do the same when reaching his upper limit and then looping back to the lower one.
It seems that Mintius intends to carry on exploring the capabilities of the Marais Executioner Sword, determining its limitations and the immense destructive power it holds. They’re considering attempting a diving attack on a Flame Chariot, merely to gauge the damage it could inflict. It promises to be quite a spectacle!
For a typical Elden Ring Nightreign player, this might serve as a warning against overindulging in the quest to upgrade the Marais Executioner Sword excessively when encountered. In other words, spending more than necessary on upgrading it could be unnecessary. The sword appears to be powerful, but there’s an element of pride involved in trying to achieve its maximum potential.
