Escape from Tarkov is about to get a lot more difficult.
Recently, the developers at Battlestate Games have been gradually disclosing details about the upcoming Hardcore Wipe this month. Now, they’ve finally shared the final details about it.
Players will not only have their progress reset to the beginning, similar to a typical Escape from Tarkov wipe, but they can also expect an increase in difficulty and a tougher grind throughout the game.
The game is nearing its complete Version 1.0 launch, which signifies the conclusion of its eight-year beta phase and the imminent debut on Steam. The specific release date hasn’t been revealed yet, but we can expect it to happen this year, with an announcement likely to follow soon.
The Hardest Extraction Shooter Gets Even Harder
Battlestate Games has been sharing details about the upcoming Hardcore Wipe in a sequence of posts on various social media platforms, accompanied by infographics that help players understand what they can anticipate.
In the initial update, several key aspects are shifting. For instance, the flea market, which is typically player-managed for selling items to aid others in their raids, will be temporarily deactivated. Additionally, crafting will demand more resources, construction materials for Hideout Zones won’t need to be discovered during raids anymore, ammo crafting will be limited, and the likelihood of encountering high-value loot will decrease.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that the latest update has brought some changes to my game world. Now, certain spots are only reachable by moving through other areas first. It seems secure storage containers have become more limited, with less variety of items I can stash away. The Trader’s offerings have shrunk a bit, and if I decide to sell something, the prices aren’t as generous as they used to be. On the flip side, when I buy items, they cost a pretty penny!
In this latest update, rolled out today, it’s confirmed that every single location will guarantee the appearance of boss characters. Additionally, there’s a decrease in experience earned from defeating foes or meeting an untimely end, but a boost in experience rewards for staying alive longer. The AI opponents will also present a more challenging and intelligent gameplay experience.
Battlestate Games revealed that the upcoming adjustments will follow a wave-like pattern, meaning modifications to the gameplay will be successively rolled out as players advance, such as unveiling additional play areas from the main menu one at a time.
As a fellow enthusiast, I’ve noticed that the reactions from our community have been quite diverse. Many are excited about anticipated updates, such as boss spawns, which they eagerly anticipate. However, some aspects, like relying on transition areas to reach specific locations, haven’t been as warmly received.
It appears that many players feel that the Hardcore Wipe will make the game significantly more tedious than it was previously, which may diminish its allure for numerous individuals. Furthermore, introducing such drastic alterations at a time when Escape from Tarkov is almost ready to be fully released seems unusual to them.
