It’s understandable why numerous gamers believe that Rockstar Games has not optimally managed or fully utilized the potential of Red Dead Online, despite the tremendous success of Red Dead Redemption 2’s single-player storyline. Regrettably, the multiplayer aspect of this game didn’t quite meet the high expectations set by fans. The significant focus and resources that Rockstar has been dedicating to the Grand Theft Auto franchise may have negatively impacted Red Dead Online, but a fresh wave of enthusiasm was recently sparked for the title.
As a dedicated fan, I must admit that I had accepted the idea of Red Dead Online not receiving significant updates anymore. However, Rockstar surprised us all with an unexpected, action-packed update recently. This latest addition brings a slew of new missions to Red Dead Online, many of which revolve around the supernatural and unexplained phenomena. One such intriguing new mission introduces weaponized robots that create chaos in the world of Red Dead Online, subtly hinting at one of RDR2’s most captivating questlines.
One of Red Dead Online’s Strange Tales Leans Into RDR2’s Marko Dragic Storyline, But Doesn’t Expand Upon It
The latest tasks for Red Dead Online are called Strange Tales, which arrive as Telegram Missions. Although these aren’t the big overhauls players have been eagerly anticipating, the concept behind these missions is still intriguing and attention-grabbing. For instance, these missions involve elements such as swamp creatures, zombies, mad scientists, and murderous robots.
Enthusiasts are rewarded with triple the amount of Gold, RDO$. and XP during these freshly introduced Telegram Missions, making it all the more enticing for participants to explore this latest offering.
It didn’t take long for people to draw comparisons between the latest Telegram project called Strange Tales of Modern Science, and the Marko Dragic Stranger Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). Marko Dragic, a character inspired by historical figures like Nikola Tesla, has a storyline where either Arthur Morgan or John Marston aid him in creating a robot. The chilling conclusion of this narrative is what makes it stand out, as it seems that Dragic’s robot eventually turned against its creator, leading to his demise.
In the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, players might discover a robot concealed amidst the snow-capped mountains following a specific mission. The new adventures in Red Dead Online seem to carry forward this narrative thread. The robots introduced in Strange Tales of Modern Science, a mission, exhibit the same aggressive behavior as Dragic’s creation and resemble the original RDR2 automaton closely. However, the game only hints at the ongoing robot storyline without providing further details or a conclusive ending. The Telegram Mission, which could have shed light on the robot’s journey or provided a canonical fate for the automaton, instead focuses on different aspects of the narrative.
Despite This Missed Opportunity, RDO’s Strange Tales Could Be the Blueprint For Future Content

In the continuation of Marko Dragic’s storyline from Red Dead Redemption 2, Strange Tales of Modern Science doesn’t fully connect the dots between the two narratives. Although it’s suggested that the rampage of violent robots originated from a different mad scientist, it’s only speculated that this character may have been influenced by Marko Dragic. If Red Dead Online were to introduce game-changing content, these missions could have had more impact if they had stronger ties to the most memorable aspects of Red Dead Redemption 2’s side content.
In simpler terms, the unusual storylines found in missions across games like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, created by Rockstar, provide some of the most captivating experiences available within their games. For instance, characters like Sadie Adler in Red Dead Online have already made it hard to distinguish between single-player and multiplayer modes. Introducing a character like Marko Dragic could have further heightened this intrigue for new missions. However, it appears that additional single-player DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 is no longer an option. Instead, innovative missions such as Strange Tales of Modern Science might offer one final chance to continue the storyline in Red Dead Redemption 2 while also revitalizing Red Dead Online. Regrettably, the potential involvement of robots was not explored in this new content.
