Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Get New Updates for July 2025

Nintendo has rolled out new updates for “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” and “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”. These updates work for both the original Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 editions of “Tears of the Kingdom” and “Breath of the Wild”, but they mainly enhance the Zelda Notes app.

On June 5, the release of Switch 2 introduced a host of fresh, exclusive games that fans have been eager to play. Notably, the debut of Mario Kart World has garnered significant attention as it marks the first new home console game in the racing series since Mario Kart 8. In addition, Nintendo rolled out Switch 2 versions of some timeless games from the original Switch. These updated editions boast numerous upgrades, providing new Switch 2 owners with an expanded selection of games to enjoy. Among the titles benefiting greatly from these enhancements are Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, which experienced improvements in resolution, frame rate, and additional features.

More recently, Nintendo has issued updates for not one but two of their popular games: “Tears of the Kingdom” is now on Version 1.4.2 and “Breath of the Wild” is at Version 1.8.2. These updates, rolled out on July 3, were primarily focused on addressing issues within the Zelda Notes app. The common issue they addressed was players encountering difficulties in utilizing the Daily Bonus in specific scenarios. To put it in simpler terms, the Daily Bonus feature lets players use the Zelda Notes app to randomly apply an effect to Link, and these updates resolved that problem for both games.

Besides dealing with the Daily Bonus issue, Nintendo also tackled various unspecified problems within the app. Moreover, they addressed an issue where the background music wasn’t playing at the right times in the Switch 2 Edition of “Tears of the Kingdom”. Additional general adjustments were made to enhance the gaming experience for players of both games. The changes in Zelda Notes only affect the Switch 2 Versions of the games, but these other fixes could potentially improve gameplay for those who are still using the original Switch as well.

It’s important to mention that this isn’t the initial upgrade for games like “Tears of the Kingdom” and “Breath of the Wild” since the launch of the Switch 2. Earlier, these “Zelda” games had been updated on June 12 with the aim of enhancing gameplay and making corrections to Portuguese text.

It’s encouraging that the updates from July 3 aim to enhance the stability of the games further. While Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild generally run smoothly on Switch 2, it’s comforting to know that Nintendo is addressing issues promptly as they arise.
