NASCAR Heat Servers Are Shutting Down

As a dedicated NASCAR Heat gamer, I’ve got some sad news to share – our days of racing online are numbered. The servers for the game will be shutting down on August 1, 2025, and that means we won’t be able to enjoy the latest NASCAR Heat games in their multiplayer glory any longer. I guess we all knew this day was coming eventually, but it still feels like a punch in the gut knowing that our favorite tracks and races will no longer be accessible online.

In December 2024, it was announced that the NASCAR Heat series of games would be discontinued by the end of the year. This decision also affected other titles such as NASCAR Rivals and NASCAR 21: Ignition, which were also withdrawn from sale. Despite being removed from the store, both NASCAR Heat 4 and 5 could still be played, either offline or online, at that time.

Effective August 1st, it has been announced that the servers for the NASCAR Heat game series will be turning off. Originally developed by Monster Games, the publishing rights were taken over by Motorsport Games starting with NASCAR Heat 5, while development duties shifted to 704Games. Now, the rights to produce NASCAR games have been transferred to iRacing, leading to the termination of the NASCAR Heat game series.

Will NASCAR Heat 5 Still Be Playable Offline?

It’s good news for fans of NASCAR Heat 4 and 5 that they can continue to play these games offline and in split-screen mode, even though their servers have been shut down. Unlike some other games that become unplayable after their servers close, NASCAR Heat isn’t among them. However, fans are not particularly happy about this change, as the next game in the franchise, NASCAR 25, has yet to be released. Although it is scheduled to launch in fall 2025, some players were hoping that NASCAR Heat 4 and 5 would remain playable until the release of NASCAR 25.

It’s regrettable to note that numerous games have either closed down or are about to in the coming years. For instance, 13 games published by EA will cease operations in 2025, MultiVersus has already shut down, and XDefiant was turned off in June. Despite some games still being playable offline, those that aren’t have caused enough frustration among fans that a significant EU petition with over 1 million signatures has been initiated. This petition started when The Crew was discontinued, rendering it unplayable online. The Stop Killing Games campaign is concerned about games becoming unplayable once their publishers stop providing support for them. Fortunately, NASCAR Heat isn’t one of these affected titles, but the lack of online functionality remains a source of annoyance.
