In Destiny 2, Strange Coins are among the various currencies, and unlike many others, they’re used to acquire some of the top-tier, game-defining items known as Exotics. Although there are a few conditions attached, players should still value these coins highly.
Obtaining and utilizing Strange Coins in Destiny 2 can provide top-tier equipment with minimal effort, but keep in mind that they aren’t handed out freely. Activities within most playlists often drop Strange Coins, however, the quantity might be too low for some players who find farming them time-consuming or tedious. If you share this sentiment, here are a couple of strategies to boost your Strange Coin farming speed.
Destiny 2: Strange Coin Farming
In case you didn’t know, playing playlist activities in Destiny 2 rewards small amounts of Strange Coins. If you have all the time in the world, choose any Destiny 2 Ritual Activity that suits your fancy and collect your coins from there. However, if Xur is about to leave and you haven’t amassed enough Strange Coins for his wares, I suggest trying out these suggested activities instead.
Crucible – Mayhem
For those who aren’t fond of competitive play in Destiny 2, the fast-paced, limited-time Mayhem game mode could be an appealing alternative. This mode is part of the Crucible’s weekly rotation and offers a thrilling experience as matches don’t typically last long, usually around five minutes. In this mode, every player has supercharged abilities, so jump into a match and immerse yourself in the frenzy!
Momentum Control serves as a viable replacement for Mayhem. In this mode, matches often conclude swiftly, and it’s typically less tension-filled compared to standard Control, thanks to the expedited weapon kill times (though it could potentially be more nerve-wracking based on personal perspective).
Crucible matches reward 2-3 Strange Coins depending on whether you win or lose.
Short Strikes
1. The Heroic version of the “The Arms Dealer” strike, found on Earth.
2. The Heroic version of the “The Summoning Pits” strike, located on Nessus.
3. The Heroic version of the “Exodus Crash” strike, situated on Titan.
4. The Heroic version of the “The Inverted Spire” strike, found on Mars.
5. The Heroic version of the “The Pyramidion” strike, located on Io.
Each completion rewards Strange Coins and offers a chance at other valuable loot.
- Warden of Nothing
- Fallen SABER
- Devil’s Lair
The strikes you need to perform should ideally be finished within 10 minutes. Based on the current Nightfall rotation, you can try farming these missions in Nightfall for a chance at obtaining Nightfall weapons and other rewards such as Destiny 2 Nightfall Ciphers. If the week’s Nightfall isn’t suitable for farming, head to the Director screen, choose the strike you wish to farm, and keep farming until there’s nothing more to be farmed.
Strikes reward 4 Strange Coins once you open the boss chest at the end of the mission.
Favor of the Nine Buff
After using 47 strange coins, head over to Xur’s “More Strange Offers” section and pick up the Favor of the Nine. This bonus will increase your chances of obtaining an extra strange coin whenever you get one. The effect lasts for eleven days and can accumulate up to three times. Acquiring another Favor of the Nine adds a new layer and renews the buff’s duration.
