How to Build a Deep Desert Base in Dune Awakening

In Dune Awakening, gamers can establish their bases within the Hagga Basin, the primary PvE zone, serving as a storage hub for all materials, equipment, and refineries. For stages up to Duraluminum, your base in the Hagga Basin should suffice to aid you in advancing through the game. However, to attain the Plastanium tier, venturing into the Deep Desert will be necessary to gather Titanium, Stravidium Mass, and Spice Sand.

As a gamer, I’ve found that Dune Awakening’s Deep Desert is a 50-50 mix of Player vs Environment (PvE) and Player vs Player (PvP). However, the majority of valuable resources are scattered throughout the latter half of this arid region. Managing resources and transporting them back to my Hagga Basin base can get quite chaotic. That’s why it’s essential to establish a Deep Desert outpost for swift resource gathering, processing, and transporting the lighter processed materials back to my main base in Hagga Basin. Here’s a guide on how to set up a base in the treacherous expanse of the Deep Desert in Dune Awakening.

Where Should You Build Your Deep Desert Base in Dune Awakening?

In the initial release of Dune Awakening, the Deep Desert area was primarily designed for Player versus Player (PvP) interactions, accounting for 90% of the region, while only 10% was dedicated to Player versus Environment (PvE). However, a recent update has significantly altered this balance, transforming the Deep Desert into a 50-50 mix of PvP and PvE zones. This change has made the Deep Desert more inviting and accessible to a wider range of players.

In the vast expanse known as the Deep Desert, there’s a large grid divided into nine rows by nine columns. The player-versus-environment (PvE) and player-versus-player (PvP) areas of the Deep Desert are distinctively separated by the “E” row. Specifically, the initial rows A to E make up the PvE section, while the remaining rows E to I encompass the PvP zones.

It’s suggested that you construct your base within the PvE zones to ensure it remains safe from other players during sandstorms. After finding an ideal rocky terrain for your base, be sure to gather some salvaged metal and either a standard or advanced Sub-Fief to mark your ownership of the location.

How to Build a Deep Desert Base in Dune Awakening

Constructing a base in the Deep Desert offers a significant advantage: the cost of construction for all materials is reduced by half. This means that whether you are using Granite, Plastone, or any other resources needed for constructing refineries and storage facilities, they will require only half the amount compared to building them in the Hagga Basin.

Here is a collection of essential supplies necessary for launching your Deep Desert outpost, where you can process Spice Sand and Plastanium.

The following items are crucial for setting up your Deep Desert camp, enabling you to refine Spice Sand and Plastanium.

Build/Machinery Materials Required (Half Cost) Notes
Main Base Granite Stone (CHOAM) or Plastone (Faction Base Building Set)
14 Generators 23 x 14 = 322 Salvaged Metal The ideal power output should be around 1000. You achieve this with either generators or wind turbines. Generators are ideal as they run on simple fuel cells.
2 Large Windtraps 120 x 2 = 240 Duraluminum Ingots 125 x 2 = 250 Silicon Blocks 35 x 2 = 70 Calibrated Servoks 3 x 2 = 6 Spice Melange Windtraps will be the primary source of water in the deep desert, as other methods won’t be viable. You can increase the number of Windtraps per requirement.
3 Large Water Cistern 74 x 3 = 222 Duraluminum Ingots 80 x 3 = 240 Silicon Blocks 13 x 3 = 39 Industrial Pumps One Large Water Cistern can store up to 100,000 liters of water. 300,000 liters is a good point to start the refining process, as you’ll need water for drinking, making Stravidium Fibers, producing Plastanium, and creating Spice Melange.
3 Storage Container 23 x 3 = 69 Aluminum Ingots 4 x 3 = 12 Silicon Blocks These will be used to store all the raw, processed, and other various loot you’ll get in the Deep Desert.
Medium Chemical Refinery 75 Duraluminum Ingots 45 Silicone Blocks 25 Complex Machinery 18 Spice Melange It will be primarily used to refine Stravidium Mass into Stravidium Fiber and for occasional fuel cells.
Medium Ore Refinery 63 Steel Ingots 30 Cobalt Paste 25 Complex Machinery It’ll primarily be used to create Plastanium from Stravidium Fiber and Titanium.
Spice Refinery 80 Duraluminum Ingots 65 Silicone Blocks 40 Cobalt Paste 35 Complex Machinery You should start with a small Spice Refinery until you get 68 Spice Melange. After that, you should invest resources in creating a Medium Spice Refinery, which will net you more Spice Melange per Spice Sand and use less water. To be specific, Small Spice Refinery turns 100 Spice Sands into 1 Spice Melange, whereas Medium Spice Refinery turns 750 Spice Sands into 10 Spice Melange. Medium Spice Refinery is 33% more efficient than a small one.
Pentashield Surface 1 Steel Ingot 10 Cobalt Paste 3 Calibrated Servoks A Pentalshield will mainly be used to protect your Ornithopter from the effects of Deep Desert Sandstorms.

To establish your base in the Deep Desert for Dune Awakening, you’ll find all the necessary items here. It’s suggested to utilize an Assault Ornithopter to shift your supplies from Hagga Basin because it offers a storage capacity of 1000 volumes, which is twice as much as the Scout’s 500-volume capacity.

Each week, the Coriolis Storm will devastate the Deep Desert, destroying your base and all its contents. To protect your belongings and continue building, it’s recommended that you move everything to Hagga Basin about 4-5 hours before the storm hits, so you can quickly rebuild once the server reset is complete.
