Since the first whispers about him during the Wano arc, I’ve noticed no other One Piece character sparking such intense anticipation as the legendary Rocks D. Xebec. He was rumored to have been the most formidable adversary the ex-Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, ever faced. His name echoes through history, often recalled as the most fearsome pirate to have ever set sail on the oceans, his exploits and actions so daring that they were likened to a terrorist group.
In Chapters 1154 and 1155 of One Piece, every aspect of his character was nothing short of breathtaking. However, the most captivating moment was undeniably the disclosure that he is Blackbeard’s biological father. Though this twist was widely anticipated by many fans, it sparked a flurry of additional theories, focusing on potential descendants from the legendary ‘Rocks D.’ lineage. Let’s explore the two strongest contenders in this scenario.
Buggy May Be Rocks‘ Other Son Due To Many Of The Clear Connections
Possible Real Name: Rocks D. Buggy
First Appearance | One Piece, Chapter 9, “Devilish Woman” |
---|---|
Story Arc | Orange Town |
- Buggy and Xebec have notable connections.
In an unexpected turn of events that might seem strange to anyone, Xebec’s unveiling appears to share several links with the least expected pirate character across the entire One Piece series โ none other than Buggy the Witty Jester. Over time, Buggy has earned a significant following among fans due to his fortunate and pitiful nature.
Previously, people might have seen his lively character as just a quirk, but it could have been revealing his true self all along. Some had suspected this, though they lacked definitive proof, merely pointing out vague clues to support their theory. However, Chapters 1154 and 1155 provided a glimpse into Rocks’ identity, reigniting the debate due to his striking resemblance to Buggy, particularly on the right side of his face which seems reminiscent of Blackbeard. Shrewd fans have noticed this discrepancy.
I wanna be King of the Pirates!
Additionally, it’s worth noting that there’s a commonality between the bounty posters of both Buggy and Rocks, as they both adopt an unusual pose not seen elsewhere: They both smile with their tongues out and extend a grasping hand towards the viewer. This could be a purposeful and subtle clue from Oda regarding Buggy’s real background, which, if true, would align perfectly with his narrative style.
In essence, a previous clue, though not specific, could also shed light on this relationship. When Oden joined the Roger Pirates for a period, he followed a distinctive tradition from Wano, incorporating its Japanese influences. He referred to Buggy as ‘Buggy-jiro’, which translates to ‘second son’ in Japanese. This might suggest that Buggy is the second-born child of Rocks, following Blackbeard in birth order.
Dragon May Have Been A Son Of Rocks Who Garp Took In
Possible Real Name: Rocks D. Dragon
First Appearance | One Piece, Chapter 100, “The Legend Has Begun” |
---|---|
Story Arc | Loguetown |
- Dragon could be Xebec’s son.
As an observer, I can’t help but notice a captivating fan theory about the enigmatic children of Rocks, focusing on none other than the world’s notorious criminal, Monkey D. Dragon. While this theory may have carried more credibility prior to Xebec’s official unveiling, it’s intriguing to consider that the shadowy figure hinted at earlier bore a striking resemblance to Dragon โ notably in the long, jagged hair and the sharp, elongated facial features.
It’s frequently noted by fans that Dragon, unlike Luffy and Garp, doesn’t resemble them facially. His face is elongated and more angular, devoid of the distinctive scar near their left eyes shared by father and son. Instead, he bears an unusual tattoo acquired later in his adventure. The suggestion is that Rocks may have fathered Dragon years before encountering Blackbeard. However, the God Valley Incident, which resulted in Rocks’ demise, left 17-year-old Dragon without parents.
Since Dragon is known for his unwavering determination and strong drive towards upholding justice, it’s plausible that he didn’t seek out his real father, leading Garp to adopt him instead. This mirrors Garp’s past actions with Ace, who he took in after Roger was captured and executed. It’s possible that Dragon crossed paths with Garp’s daughter, the mother of Luffy, which would neatly conclude this storyline.
Although it seems unlikely based on Rocks’ known design, it’s intriguing to ponder the possibility. Given Oda’s knack for creating interconnected narratives, this theory might hold water. If Rocks were Dragon’s father, it would provide an explanation for his extraordinary strength. Furthermore, Garp adopting him to shield him from public judgment due to his father’s misdeeds aligns well with Garp’s character, especially considering he came to view Ace as part of his family despite their lack of blood relation.
