In Destiny 2, the redesign of armor stats has brought about a substantial shift in character build strategies. Now, players enjoy a wider range of character customization options. However, since the baseline performance for Guardians has been adjusted, it’s crucial that players exercise prudence when deciding which stats to focus on maximizing.
In the world of Destiny 2, the Crucible has consistently centered around breakpoints, and the arrival of Armor 3.0 doesn’t alter that fact. However, the strategic landscape has significantly transformed when it comes to what players should emphasize for staying ahead in the Crucible. To help you maintain a competitive edge, here’s a brief guide on the crucial stats you need to focus on enhancing.
What Stats to Get for Destiny 2 PvP
Earlier in Destiny 2’s PvP scene, Resilience and Recovery were the cornerstone of effective builds. However, since these attributes have been combined into Health, players must adapt their build strategies. Essentially, for Destiny 2’s PvP, Weapon stats become paramount, as they offer a wide range of intriguing loadout possibilities.
For those who may not know yet, each additional 10 points in Weapons beyond 100 can raise the damage players inflict on other players by up to 6%. While this might appear insignificant at first glance, when combined with other damage-enhancing factors like Radiant or a multitude of damage bonuses, certain weapons can substantially boost their optimal Time-to-Kill (TTK) values. Here are some examples:
1. A weapon with 101 points in Weapons will deal up to 6% more damage than one with exactly 100 points.
2. If a player enhances a weapon further to 111 points, the increased damage becomes even greater (12% more damage compared to 100 points).
3. Continuing this trend, a weapon with 121 points in Weapons would deal up to 18% more damage than one at 100 points.
- 180 RPM Hand Cannons with Enhanced Precision Instrument and ~170 Weapons can defeat Guardians with three headshots
- 390 RPM Pulse Rifles with ~177 Weapons can take Guardians down with six headshots
For optimal performance in the Crucible, it’s best to focus on weapons with a stat value of 190, as this setup will significantly enhance the overall feel of all your guns.
What About Other Stats?
Absolutely, it’s essential to remember that Weapon stats aren’t the sole determinant in PvP encounters. If you’re comfortable with the existing gameplay dynamics or if your chosen weapon isn’t significantly boosted by Weapon stats, then consider focusing on these alternate aspects instead:
- Class: Decreases the cooldown of class abilities. Over 100, this stat grants you an Overshield when using a class ability.
- Super: Decreases Super cooldown and increases Super energy received from all sources. This is a must-have for Competitive/Trials of Osiris, as base Super cooldowns are simply too long.
- Grenade/Melee: Much like the stats above, these are important for reducing ability cooldowns.
In the Crucible, it’s less crucial for Super, Grenade, and Melee stats to exceed 100 due to their damage bonuses being less impactful compared to challenging PvE scenarios. However, aim to get at least one of these up to 100, and if you fancy a 200 stat build, feel free to do so for an enjoyable challenge!
What About Health?
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: In Player versus Player (PvP) battles, everyone starts with an equal pool of Health Points (HP). Yet, the greater your Health stat, the quicker you’ll regenerate HP once you stop taking damage. This is much like the Recovery system we had before Armor 3.0 was introduced.
For individuals seeking to reduce their periods of inactivity, Stacking Health could be a suitable choice. From our gaming sessions within Crucible battles, we’ve found that around 150 Health provides a decent boost to your Hit Points (HP) regeneration speed in the Crucible.
