It appears that new levels for the Xbox Game Pass might be in development, hinted at by certain information discovered directly from Microsoft’s servers. This leak includes references to four codenames associated with unnamed xCloud projects, possibly indicating one or more potential future Xbox Game Pass subscription tiers.

In September 2024, Microsoft made changes to its well-known subscription service. At this time, they introduced two new options: Xbox Game Pass Standard and Core. These tiers offer a smaller selection of content and benefits at a lower cost compared to the entire catalog. The standard version, XGP Standard, is a fresh addition, while Core serves as an upgrade to Xbox Live Gold. There have been whispers online that additional tiers could be on the horizon since then.

Further indications suggesting new Xbox Game Pass tiers have surfaced on social media, with user Redphx unearthing hints from the Xbox Cloud Gaming API. Four undisclosed names, Callisto, Dia, Europa, and Ferdinand, were found within the API that correspond to unidentified programs. At present, only three active programs are known: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, a self-service plan for personal games, and a free-to-play option limited to Fortnite. Since these active programs are labeled in the API, it’s likely that the newly discovered names are codenames.

Independent testing by Game Rant confirmed these findings using Microsoft’s publicly accessible, though unofficially documented API. While it remains uncertain if ‘Ferdinand’, ‘Dia’, ‘Europa’, and ‘Callisto’ are indeed the codenames for some undisclosed Xbox Game Pass tiers, there can be no question about the authenticity of these names since they were directly retrieved from Microsoft’s servers. In essence, it is certain that projects bearing these code-names, related to Xbox Cloud Gaming, are in development. The possibility exists that these could represent cloud-only Xbox Game Pass subscription tiers, as such services have been speculated to be under consideration since summer 2024.

If there’s any connection between the order and the tier hierarchy, it’s equally likely that Ferdinand is the highest (non-Ultimate) tier and Callisto the lowest. It should be noted that not every program on the list will necessarily correspond to a unique tier. In fact, two out of the three currently available programs, xCloud BYOG and Ultimate, are associated with the same plan, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Among them are games like Undertale, Doom 64, Tunic, Viva Piñata, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and Grand Theft Auto 5 (Xbox One version only).
