Hades 2 Reveals Patch Notes for Big New Update

On July 23rd, Supergiant Games unveiled the details of Patch 11 for “Hades 2“, announcing that this would be the final update before the game exits early access in late 2025. The latest “Hades 2” patch has been shaped by player feedback, implementing modifications to several boons and addressing certain issues concerning specific enemy behaviors.

Ever since its early release in May 2024, the anticipation for Hades 2 has been sky-high due to the success of its first installment. The game introduces Melinoe, Zagreus’ sister from Hades, and follows her journey as she wields an array of weapons and powers against the Titan Chronos. Throughout its time in early access, Hades 2 has undergone multiple updates. In celebration of its one-year anniversary, Supergiant Games confirmed that the game is still on schedule for a full release in 2025, although they haven’t disclosed an exact launch date just yet. Additionally, Hades 2 will be available on Switch 2, joining the previously announced Switch version, as a timed exclusive for Nintendo’s consoles.

Despite an earlier announcement that July update would be the final early access patch for Hades 2 before its full release this year, developers have decided to make further adjustments based on player feedback and their own observations. As detailed in the Hades 2 Steam blog, some alterations have been implemented within the game. Specifically, the Zodiac Sand and Void Lens resources have been transformed into Prestige in preparation for the game’s 1.0 launch, a change primarily due to sequences related to the True Ending of the game.

In the latest update, Patch 11, I noticed some tweaks to my divine advantages from deities like Zeus and Apollo, packing a bigger punch with enhanced damage output. On the flip side, boons from Poseidon saw a dip in their damage and area of influence. As for those duo boons that need two Olympians to trigger, such as teaming up Poseidon with Hephaestus, they’ve been tweaked or even swapped out altogether in this update.

In the recent update for Hades 2, adjustments were made to the nighttime attributes of Melinoe’s weapons. Specifically, the secret attribute of The Black Coat, known as the Aspect of Shiva, underwent a slight modification. The Omega Special bounce count was enhanced in this update; however, the destructive damage was decreased to balance things out. Furthermore, Umbral Flames now have an increased likelihood of inflicting critical damage on Melinoe’s aspect, while the Aspect of Eos in the Daybreaker projectile exhibits improved tracking capabilities.

Despite Hades 2 being slated for a 2025 release, the pace of its development seems unabated. As for what modifications might transition from early access to the full game at its 1.0 launch, only time will reveal those secrets.

General Gameplay

Attention: As we approach the v1.0 launch and the upcoming narrative related to the True Ending, please remember that any resources you have of Zodiac Sand or Void Lens when loading your saved progress at that point will be instantly changed to Prestige. For now, feel free to keep on accumulating these resources if desired.

Nocturnal Arms & Abilities

· Umbral Flames: increased Special projectile size and orbit speed

· Moonstone Axe: increased damage of Attack sequence

· Black Coat: improved responsiveness of blocking while channeling Omega Attack

Aspects of the Nocturnal Arms

Sister Blades (Artemis): Increases the speed at which Riposte is recharged, allowing for its use more often.

· Umbral Flames (Melinoë): increased Critical damage chance

Umbral Flames (Eos) Update: Now, using Special no longer nullifies other Special projectiles from allies; additionally, the Daybreaker projectile’s hit accuracy has been enhanced.

· Moonstone Axe (Thanatos): increased Critical chance ramp-up and upper limit

· Witch’s Staff (Anubis): increased Magick cost of Omega Special

Revamped Umbral Flames (Supay): Altered Special launches an additional bullet; altered timing for attacks and Ultimate Attack; bullets no longer cause enemies to stumble; decreased the bonus damage of Rush Boon; more effectively breaks Urns.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share an exciting update about my favorite character, Black Coat (Shiva). Now, when he unleashes his Omega Special move, it bounces multiple times within the target zone. However, to keep things balanced, the destructive damage bonus has been slightly diminished. Enjoy this change in gameplay, fellow fans!

Hephaestus amplifies the power of explosion-type abilities, like the “Smithy Rush”; he also enhances the bonus glow that comes with rarity.

· Tough Gain (Hephaestus): effect now activates even if you are protected by Paid Dues (Hermes)

· Molten Touch (Hephaestus): increased damage to Armor, increased bonus from Poms of Power

· Heat Rush (Hestia): slightly reduced duration of damage trail

· Ares: Plasma can no longer provide a speed bonus greater than • 100%, which caused various issues

Traditional Plant-Based Cure (as per Circe): resolved a problem that prevented the reduction of this effect due to Vow of Scars (an Oath)

Hexes & Path of Stars

Confluence (Night Bloom): Now, it summons your summoned units within your Cast area, instead of making them appear post-Sprint.

Animal Familiars

Toula the Cat: Enhanced perks from Familiar Bonds, along with an inherent increase in movement agility, enhanced pouncing precision, and reduced nap recharge time; she additionally has a lower chance of getting tangled on impediments.

Instead, let’s take away “Attending a Faithful Beast (Cauldron)” and its related benefits when you rest your familiars.

Foes & Dangers

· Encounters on Olympus now have slightly fewer foes

· Encounters with Icarus have slightly fewer foes at the same time

At the Summit, there are now slightly fewer formidable adversaries. Some of the lesser enemies have experienced a slight boost in health.

· Foes from Moon Monuments now have more Armor in later Regions

Reducing the velocity and impact of Typhon’s primary eye explosion, shortening the lifespan of certain projectiles, and decreasing the rate of cyclonic assaults during the second phase.

· Prometheus: reduced tracking speed of uppercut

· Unrivaled Cerberus: no longer also drops magma on top of his attacks

· Unrivaled Scylla: the guest artist fires fewer projectiles than before

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve just tweaked a challenge to make it more engaging. Now, it’s clearer to tell apart the unrivaled Hecate from her counterparts during gameplay, unlike before where they all seemed alike in the regular Encounter.

· Master-Slicer (Erebus): reduced Life

· Lurker (Oceanus): attacks can be blocked more reliably using the Black Coat

· Shellback (Oceanus): Elite now shoots a larger bouncing projectile instead of a triple-shot

Holeheart (Fields) has modified the behavior of the thrown bomb: It no longer inflicts immediate damage directly, and an elite unit will no longer throw multiple bombs simultaneously.

· Brush-Stalker (Fields): reduced maximum targeting distance for ranged attack

· Lycaon (Fields): pounce attack now is slower to start

· Goldwraith (Tartarus): slightly reduced appearance rate

· Tempus (Tartarus): slightly reduced appearance rate

· Sandskull (Tartarus): slightly reduced appearance rate

· Satyr Hoplite (Olympus) : Elite throws fewer projectiles at once

Satyr Vierophant (Tartarus) now exhibits altered summoning patterns; the persistence period and intensity of his fireball’s destructive path have been decreased.

· Shambler: all varieties have reduced tracking speed

· Bronzebeak (Ephyra): adjusted attack behavior

· Lubber (Ephyra): fixed an issue causing their flames to sometimes destroy your projectiles

· Eidolon (Ephyra): Elite no longer throws multiple projectiles at once

· Droplet (Thessaly) : reduced move speed

· Stickler (Thessaly) : reduced projectile speed

· Boozer (Thessaly) : reduced lunge-attack distance and accuracy

· Harpy Talon (Thessaly) : removed cyclone attack

Reconfigured Olympus Model – Auto-Seeker: Disabled self-destruct function; decreased the number of projectiles while amplifying their impact force.

· Auto-Forcer (Olympus) : reduced move speed during whirlwind attack; increased recovery time

· Sky-Dracon (Olympus) : removed flame-breath attack

· Mega-Dracon (Olympus) : updated flame-breath attack
