In the sprawling, immersive world of Abiotic Factor, I’ve found that mastering the art of crafting is a game-changer. Right from your initial escape within the facility, you’ll find yourself gathering materials and learning recipes that will be crucial for your survival throughout the adventure. But, let me tell you, there’s a twist to this crafting system that might catch newcomers off guard.
As you progress and start unlocking more crafting recipes, you’ll notice that some of the simpler items can be made by simply accessing Abiotic Factor’s crafting menu. However, there are several intricate recipes that demand a bit more finesse – they require the use of a Powered Crafting Bench. Much like other aspects of this game, guidance is sparse, so it’s up to you to locate these benches. In this guide, I’ll help you track down and explain how to craft Powered Crafting Benches in Abiotic Factor.
How to Create Powered Crafting Benches in Abiotic Factor
Starting right from the beginning, you’ll find that Powered Workbenches, known as Abiotic Factors in the game, will be essential for making progress. Interestingly, even the first mission – assisting Dr. Jager by opening the cafeteria door – relies on their usage. The game doesn’t offer a lot of guidance on these matters, so it might be challenging, especially if you rush through the tutorial.
Contrary to what you might assume, Powered Crafting Stations aren’t scattered around the game. Instead, much like other significant items in the game, you must create and construct them yourself before you can utilize them. Fortunately, you won’t have to scour the facility to find the recipe for it.

As soon as you start playing “Abiotic Factor”, you’ll find yourself with immediate access to the blueprint for the Crafting Station. Navigate to your main menu, then head to the crafting section. There, you’ll discover an item labeled “Concept: Crafting Station“. This is a mini-game that reveals more complex crafting recipes. To solve the puzzle, arrange items in the appropriate slots. The blueprint for the Crafting Station is as follows:
- Duct Tape x4
- Power Supply Unit x1
- Any Pipe x2
Once you place the correct items in the boxes, you’ll unlock the Crafting Bench recipe.
Where to Craft the Powered Crafting Bench:

When you examine specific items within your crafting menu, they appear dimmed and display the message: “Requires Powered Crafting Bench.” Essentially, this means that the regular Crafting Bench serves as the recipe for what you intend to create, but it should be constructed in an area with a power supply. In the early stages of the game, the most suitable location to fabricate the bench is the Security office, situated near the cafeteria doors, where there’s easy access to power cables.
Here are several justifications for this setup. Initially, you’ll notice Power Supply Units within the room. Furthermore, this spot serves as an excellent choice to create a secure area due to its convenience. A couch is provided for resting, and it’s situated near the kitchen for easy access when preparing meals.
1. Gather Duct Tape, which can easily be found everywhere, along with Metal Pipes.
2. As you move towards the cafeteria entrance, you will pass by several pipes mounted on the walls. Grab these and disassemble them to obtain the necessary Metal Pipes for crafting the bench.
3. On your way, you’ll reach a small rest area located in the Security office. Inside this area, there is a coffee table close to the television. On this table, you will find two computer towers with a note attached. The note instructs you to use these computers for spare parts, so that’s exactly what you should do.
4. To obtain the Power Supply Units, use a Table Leg to break down the computers, and search through the resulting materials.

After gathering all three necessary items, locate a wall-mounted power supply. In your inventory, create a Crafting Bench and position it close to the power source. Then, take out a Screwdriver for assembly. Lastly, connect the plug to the bench to complete the Powered Crafting Bench setup. Now, you’re ready to use this bench to craft an assortment of potent items.
