Although the trailer offered a comprehensive overview of numerous new elements and interactive experiences, only Mega Dragonite was unveiled. This is nevertheless exciting news for enthusiasts of Dragonite and Mega Evolutions, suggesting that Pokemon Legends: Z-A may have more surprises up its sleeve. Interestingly enough, the official announcements during Pokemon Presents day also confirmed Mega Starmie and Mega Scrafty.

Several leaks have emerged in advance of the latest trailer, with many happening between late last year and early 2025. These leaks suggest that the upcoming game, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, will feature a total of 26 new Mega Evolutions, which is quite significant given that the entire series currently has only 48. Joining them are Lida and Naveen. Lida is a student at a dance school, and Naveen aspires to become a fashion designer – details that turn out to be quite relevant. Lida’s companion Pokemon is Staryu, while Naveen has Scraggy by her side. According to rumors, Mega Starmie has elongated limbs, which could align with Lida being a dancer, and Mega Scrafty acquires fresh white attire, fitting for a trainer who designs fashion.

Given that Mega Dragonite accurately matched all 26 Mega Evolutions detailed in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it’s plausible to infer that Lida’s companion, Staryu, and Naveen’s companion, Scraggy, are not just coincidental choices. Mega Starmie and Mega Scrafty were initially leaked alongside Mega Dragonite, and each character in the list has a description provided by someone who played the game. Mega Dragonite was described as possessing angelic wings on its head, shoulders, and heels, as well as an orb on its tail. This is precisely how Mega Dragonite appears in the game, lending credence to the existence of Mega Starmie and Mega Scrafty.

As a gamer, it feels like a strong hint when both main NPCs, Lida and Naveen, choose Staryu and Scraggy as their starting Pokemon.
