As a dedicated gamer, I’m excitedly looking forward to Sony unveiling the August lineup for PlayStation Plus! After the jam-packed June and July with an abundance of titles, it seems like we might have a slightly calmer month ahead. However, these slower times often provide room for some truly exceptional games that will undoubtedly make the summer even more enjoyable. Stay tuned, fellow gamers!
PS Plus August 2025 Wish List: Star Wars Outlaws
Read Game Rant’s Review of Star Wars Outlaws
After spending nearly a year in the gaming world following its late-August debut, Star Wars Outlaws has significantly evolved from its mixed initial reception. Enhancements have been implemented across various aspects, particularly in stealth capabilities and technical efficiency, which have greatly improved player experience. Additionally, two DLCs – Wild Card and A Pirate’s Fortune – have been added to the game, enriching Kay Vess’ underworld escapades even further. With most of its initial issues addressed, now seems like an ideal moment for Star Wars Outlaws to join PS Plus!
PS Plus August 2025 Wish List: Dying Light Enhanced Edition
Read Game Rant’s Review of Dying Light
Initially, “Dying Light 2: Stay Human” was part of PS+ Essential but has now been removed from rotation. However, on August 22, “Dying Light: The Beast” will be released, continuing the epic open-world FPS franchise by Techland that combines intense combat and amazing parkour. Kyle Crane’s adventure will continue more than a decade after the original game’s events in this enhanced edition with several refined updates, making it an enjoyable experience even after 10 years. Giving fans the best possible “Dying Light” version just before “The Beast” is released would be a fantastic pairing that Kyle Crane himself would approve of.
PS Plus August 2025 Wish List: Blasphemous 2
The highly anticipated sequel to “Blasphemous 2” continues in the footsteps of its predecessor, a Soulslike Metroidvania game from The Game Kitchen. Retaining its distinctive retro pixel art style and core mechanics, this new version introduces an expanded collection of weapons and tools. It preserves the challenging yet fair gameplay, rich world-building, and demanding boss battles that were hallmarks of the original released in 2019. For enthusiasts of these genres, as well as those currently enjoying “Elden Ring: Nighreign”,
August 2025 Wish List For PS Plus Extra and Premium
Apart from these essential options, there are a few exceptional games that could potentially be included in our premium packages if selected.
- Metaphor: ReFantazio– Atlus’ celebrated modern JRPG that channels the design and spirit of its other popular series, Persona, Metaphor offers a similarly engaging experience without the potential hurdle of players having to be familiar with the established characters and setting. Metaphor is a top-notch RPG with a compelling cast and mechanics, and seeing it on PS+ would be superb.
- Astrobot– The smash-hit 3-D platformer that took home Game of the Year in 2024, Astrobot pays homage to both the genre titles of yesterday and many of Sony/PlayStation’s most iconic IPs. Just shy of its one-year anniversary, its inclusion on Premium would round out the collection well.
- Norco– A narrative point-and-click adventure that is by turns humorous and dark but constantly thought-provoking. Norco’s surreal futuristic Southern Gothic tale is perfect for the deep summer and for fans of games that filter old-school sensibilities through contemporary eyes.
- Lorelei and the Laser Eyes– A heady philosophical puzzler that was very well-received, Lorelei is one of the best in its class in recent memory, and would be a brilliant pick for this month.
- Cloudpunk– PlayStation Plus’ cozy offerings were previously thin. But that seems to be changing, and given that Cyberpunk 2077 was recently added to Extra, Cloudpunk is like its older, more reserved cousin. Cloudpunk hitting PS+ could serve as a more relaxing experience, but one that still contains many shades of Cyberpunk 2077 in its presentation and characters.
As soon as new PS+ games become available, they won’t keep you waiting too long. These selections, ideal for the upcoming late-summer period, provide a delightful mix of various genres and gameplay styles, ensuring a diverse selection to choose from.
