The zombie game, “SurroundDead,” which has been garnering attention lately, has just received a fresh update. This update includes an array of new items, alterations to the gameplay, and fixes for bugs. Created by Zurvivor, “SurroundDead” was initially released in early access on Steam back in 2022.
Even though SurrounDead debuted three years ago, it didn’t gain significant popularity among players until the last few months. Starting from April, the post-apocalyptic game has seen a steady rise in player engagement, culminating in over 5.4K concurrent Steam players at one point in July. This is a significant increase compared to its previous peak of under 1.1K concurrent players before this period. To give you an idea, the developers have just released a new update with a wealth of fresh content in anticipation of maintaining SurrounDead’s positive momentum.
On July 26th, Zurvivor rolled out Patch 0.7.1f, named “Preparation,” to the rapidly expanding community of SurrounDead players. This update enriched the game by introducing a new assortment of ghillie items, including a mask, hood, top, gloves, pants, boots, and body armor. For players seeking a more customized experience, there are newly added difficulty settings, such as a health regeneration multiplier, a radiation filter depletion multiplier, and a battery depletion multiplier. To provide greater control, the game now allows players to assign vehicle movement controls independently. For clearer navigation, buildable storage and tent items now show available storage spaces. Furthermore, a camera transition has been incorporated for when the player enters or exits a vehicle.
In addition to the fresh elements unveiled, the creators of Zurvivor have implemented numerous gameplay adjustments in the latest update of SurrounDead, with the aim of retaining existing Steam users and potentially attracting more. Some significant alterations include crafting Molotov cocktails and splints without a workbench, a doubling of the zombie count in deserted camps, and a higher frequency of zombies appearing in the new lab. Shotguns within the game have undergone modifications featuring faster recoil, quicker reloading, and an increase in the Exterminator’s pellet count from six to eight. Various other changes include adjustments to melee weapon swing speed and delay, such as those affecting the dark machete and fireman’s axe.
In this latest update, I’m thrilled to say that the developers have tackled some significant issues. They’ve fixed the exploit with the vicinity menu, which allowed players like me to, say, stuff a 30-round magazine with an unbelievable 1000 rounds! Additionally, they’ve dealt with shadows vanishing during in-game twilight hours, boss zombies appearing at Points of Interest despite being obstructed by buildables, and the Crusher rifle erroneously applying the pistol headshot multiplier. Lastly, Zurvivor assured us that we can expect more updates for SurrounDead in the coming weeks.
Similar to SurrounDead, numerous Steam games have been garnering more attention lately as they are still in early access. Games like the drug dealer simulator named Schedule 1 and the cooperative horror game called R.E.P.O. offer a rich selection for gamers to explore.
