Over the course of fifteen seasons, Jensen Ackles graced our screens as a central figure in an emotionally charged drama revolving around family, existence, and mortality. Now, this talented actor has returned to television with a fresh series that’s rapidly climbing up the popular streaming rankings.
From 2005 to 2020, the supernatural series had an extraordinary journey, narrating the gripping, amusing, and at times heartbreaking tale of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Ackles), two brothers who hit the road to prevent paranormal entities from causing harm. Exciting news for fans as a new comic book is out, focusing on Sam and Dean’s escapades during the gap between their first two seasons. Fans have cherished moments like the unforgettable season 10 episode where Dean wrecked a hotel room, to the chilling villains, making _Supernatural_ one of the most captivating and emotionally resonant long-running television shows. Don’t miss out on Ackles’ latest acting project!
Countdown Is #2 On The Amazon Prime Video Charts, And Supernatural Fans Will Love It

Based on Flix Patrol’s report, Countdown ranks second among shows on Amazon Prime Video. Given its star, Jared Padalecki (Ackles) delivers another captivating performance in this series. Here, he portrays Detective Mark Meachum, a former Army Ranger. Following the gruesome murder of a Homeland Security agent, Meachum joins a formidable task force to solve the case. With such an intriguing plot, it’s not hard to imagine Countdown becoming a fan favorite that spans multiple seasons.
Despite facing mixed reviews from critics, with only a 38% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Countdown has earned a more respectable 73% on the Popcornmeter. Sharing similarities with the supernatural series Supernatural, this crime/action drama features compelling characters who are dedicated to helping others and making righteous choices.
As I pen this review, an array of captivating young adult dramas and pulse-pounding action series are battling it out for the coveted top spots on the Prime video rankings. The hotly anticipated third and concluding season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is currently leading the pack, while the gripping thriller “We Were Liars” holds down the third position, albeit briefly claiming the number one spot not too long ago. The spinoff of the popular series “Bosch,” titled “Ballard,” finds itself comfortably ensconced at the fourth spot.
After portraying Dean on the popular series Supernatural, Ackles took up his character once more in the spin-off The Winchesters, a show often criticized for being dull. Later, he was chosen to play a role in The Boys, a darkly humorous and sarcastic superhero series from Supernatural creator Eric Kripke on Prime Video. In season 5 of The Boys, which will be its last, Ackles will reprise his Soldier Boy character. Some of his other notable roles include Beau Arlen in the crime drama Big Sky, Tom Hanniger in the entertaining yet cheesy 2009 horror remake My Bloody Valentine 3D, and Jason Teague, Lana Lang’s boyfriend on Smallville, portrayed by Kristen Kreuk.
During a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Ackles shared his reasons for taking on the role in ‘Countdown’. The allure stemmed from a lunch meeting with showrunner and creator Derek Haas. Ackles found himself intrigued by the concept of the series. In his own words:
In the scene, there was a blend of intense activity and strong-willed personalities. The question on everyone’s mind became: will they succeed in their mission? Will they rescue all the people and apprehend the villains?
Although Season 2 of Countdown hasn’t been confirmed yet, fans remain optimistic about continuing Detective Mark Meachum’s tale. In the interim, enthusiasts can revisit Countdown on Amazon Prime Video and prepare for the upcoming episode, “10-33,” which will be available on August 6th, 2025. Additionally, don’t forget to rewatch previous episodes in anticipation of new content.
Supernatural is never a bad idea, either.
