It appears that some Nintendo items, such as various versions of the Nintendo Switch and their accompanying gear, will become pricier for U.S. consumers in the near future. Since its debut nearly nine years ago, the price of the Nintendo Switch has remained relatively stable. However, imminent changes could result in customers having to pay up to an additional $50 for a new console.
Discussions about price increases in the U.S. market related to Nintendo products have been ongoing for quite some time now. Although no exact figures were mentioned, it was stated that market conditions are driving this change. Back in February, company president Shuntaro Furukawa acknowledged tariff worries concerning the Switch 2, and since then, various statements have hinted at officials monitoring the situation closely. The potential of increased prices has been suggested in these discussions.
Starting on August 3, 2025, Nintendo has revealed that prices for their products, including the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, Nintendo Switch Lite, and various unnamed accessories, will be adjusted. Additionally, certain Amiibo figurines are going up in price once more, as previously announced in April. As of now, the Nintendo online store hasn’t implemented any price adjustments despite an announcement stating updates will occur on August 3. Nintendo has been tight-lipped about the potential new prices for their Switch consoles and accessories, but a reliable source, CentroLeaks, has leaked some tentative prices from Target for the three distinct console models. According to CentroLeaks’ report, the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model may increase by $50 to $399.99. The traditional model is speculated to rise by $40 to $339.99, while the portable Switch Lite might go up by $30 to $229.99. Keep in mind that these prices haven’t been officially confirmed yet, but eager Nintendo enthusiasts won’t have long to wait for confirmation.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that unlike its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t seeing a price increase right now. It’s still going for the same $449.99 tag. The good news doesn’t end there – both physical and digital games for the original Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2 are holding steady in their prices too. And, the subscription fee for Nintendo Switch Online memberships remains unchanged as well.
However, it’s important to note that Nintendo is keeping a close eye on the U.S. market’s financial landscape. So, while there’s no change at the moment, future price adjustments might be on the horizon.
