AI and Blockchain Two Sides of Same Coin, Ledger Exec Says

As an experienced analyst in the tech industry, I find Ian Rogers’ perspective on the intersection of AI and blockchain to be thought-provoking and insightful. Rogers’ observation that AI generates digital abundance while blockchain ensures digital scarcity is a compelling take on how these two technologies complement each other.

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Ledger’s Chief Experience Officer, Ian Rogers, expressed his belief that blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) share similar qualities:

“In my opinion, AI and blockchain represent two complementary aspects of our digital era. While AI generates an abundance of digital content, blockchains ensure the scarcity and security of digital assets. We currently experience this interconnectedness as we navigate web pages that have been created by AI, in turn using data from other AI-generated web pages.”

Rogers anticipates that blockchain technology will become essential for verifying the authenticity of online content. He emphasized, “It will be crucial to confirm my identity as the one making the statements, and ensure that the information isn’t deepfakes or manipulated in any way.”

Using a Ledger wallet to log into your social media account serves as confirmation of your humanity.

“…Increasingly, we will see the ways that these two things go hand and hand,” he added.

Recently, Ledger has begun dispatching its elite Ledger Stax crypto wallets, initially unveiled in December 2022. This latest model boasts a secure touchscreen, enhancing user experience with self-custody wallets. Impressively, Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics contract manufacturer, collaborated on the development of Ledger’s new high-end gadget.

Blockchain colliding with AI

Some business luminaries have already floated the idea of combining AI and blockchain.

The use of blockchain technology for verification seems to be the most effective application identified thus far. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian recently proposed that blockchain could serve as a tool in distinguishing between genuine and AI-generated photos, given the increasing prevalence of advanced artificial intelligence.
