Devil Fruits exhibit differences in power levels and capacities. Some appear incredibly potent, particularly considering the unique abilities granted by consuming them. For instance, certain fruits grant elemental powers, enabling users to generate, manipulate, and even transform into fire or magma. Alternatively, they might enable shape-shifting into animals like jaguars, wolves, or even extinct creatures such as dinosaurs.
Although these Devil Fruits undoubtedly possess impressive powers, some may not seem as potent at first glance without additional context. However, when used skillfully, these seemingly less intimidating abilities can be incredibly destructive. In fact, these are Devil Fruits that pack a shockingly powerful punch.
Doru Doru no Mi
The Power of Wax
- User: Galdino (Mr. 3)
The Doru Doru Fruit grants its consumer the power to produce and manage wax. This skill is particularly useful for intricate candle crafting, though its potential applications extend far beyond that. Galdino, a clever criminal who consumed the Doru Doru Fruit, can mold the wax into complex shapes. In battle, he often transforms it into sharp weapons like swords or harpoons, but combat isn’t his primary strength.
Galdino possesses an array of skills, including the ability to transform a single object into a home, a key tailored for specific locks, restraints (some of which can even take lives independently), and replicas of himself. However, these lifelike replicas need the artistic talent of his Baroque Works partner, Marianne (Miss Goldenweek), to appear authentic. The wax he uses is sturdy enough to support all these functions. Moreover, Galdino employs this wax to propel his personal vessel, effectively tapping into its travel capabilities.
The strongest known ability of Galdino’s candle is called Candle Champion, which serves as a last resort. This ability causes Galdino to don an armor resembling a robotic boxer, significantly boosting both his attack and defense. However, the Devil Fruit has an unusual condition: it ignites a flame on the user’s head that, if left unchecked, can melt most wax structures. In their battle against Mr. 3 and some of his associates, Luffy and Usopp exploited this feature. They used the fire to light a rope soaked in oil, which Karoo dragged around one of Mr. 3’s wax sculptures, resulting in a large explosion.
Hito Hito no Mi
The Might of a Human
- User: Tony Tony Chopper
In the world of One Piece, the Hito Hito no Mi grants its wielder the power to transform into a human. However, in the broader narrative, this ability appears rather insignificant due to humans typically being among the weakest species, with few inherent powers or abilities compared to others. Interestingly, humans are also the most common users of Devil Fruits, raising concerns about potential redundancy among consumers.
Here’s my attempt at paraphrasing in a first-person, enthusiastic style:
“I, once a neglected reindeer named Tony Tony Chopper, have discovered an extraordinary talent! I’ve delved deep into medical science and transformed myself into a doctor. Not only that, but I can converse fluently between humans and animals because I now straddle the line between these two incredible species.
But wait, there’s more! With my ingenious invention, the Rumble Ball, I’ve taken my shape-shifting abilities to new heights. This Devil Fruit power has been amplified, allowing me to morph into an array of forms, each boasting unique strengths such as enhanced strength, speed, or intelligence.
It’s been suggested that the Hito Hito no Mi might have been mislabeled to keep humans from consuming it, possibly because it could be an un-awakened form of a more powerful Devil Fruit. Most other types of the Hito Hito no Mi grant their users immense power and mythical abilities. However, there’s no solid proof to back up this theory. Regardless, for Chopper, even in its current state, the Hito Hito no Mi has been incredibly advantageous.
Awa Awa no Mi
Soap Bubble Savagery
- User: Kalifa
The Awa Awa no Mi gives its user the power to generate and manipulate soap bubbles, which could cause temporary eye discomfort and promote cleanliness, but its effectiveness as a combat tool is debatable. Interestingly, the cleansing properties of soap go beyond ordinary dirt removal, enabling the user to scour an adversary’s strength. This capability becomes even more refined under Kalifa’s clever tactics.
I recently observed Kalifa, who has a knack for deceiving opponents into letting their guard down. When Nami chanced upon her bathing, it made her ponder if she was fully committed to the battle given that users of Devil Fruits are susceptible to water. In this moment, Nami failed to detect Kalifa’s carefully laid bubble trap, which ended up draining her energy. What’s more, Kalifa skillfully combines the powers of her Awa Awa no Mi with her Rokushiki techniques, amplifying her strength while weakening that of her opponents.
Wara Wara no Mi
A Literal Straw Man
- User: Basil Hawkins
The Wara Wara Fruit is a Devil Fruit granting its wielder the power to manipulate dried stalks of grain, often used as fodder but with versatile uses beyond that. For instance, Hawkins can incorporate nearby straw into a monstrous figure resembling a scarecrow, equipped with sharp nails. Moreover, he can craft a similar straw construct and control it remotely using his tarot cards.
Hawkins’ most notable skill lies in crafting straw dolls that serve as proxies for other people. By bonding these dolls with individuals, any harm inflicted on the doll results in the person feeling the pain instead. These dolls can be expelled when injured, but they can also endure longer if their bearer is strong-willed. Hawkins exploits this ability, causing injury to himself while connecting a doll to Eustass Kid to continuously harm his adversary.
Ito Ito no Mi
Strength of String
- User: Donquixote Doflamingo
The Ito Ito no Mi is a Devil Fruit that grants its user the ability to manipulate strings they produce. These strings are incredibly tough, extend from various parts of the user’s body, and can control a wide range of objects. Donquixote Doflamingo consumed this fruit when he was ten years old, and over the decades since then, he has honed his skills with it extensively. His signature move is called Parasite, which enables him to attach his strings to his enemies, controlling their actions as if they were marionettes. He can control multiple victims simultaneously without any apparent strain on himself.
Apart from this, his string serves not only as a combat tool but also as a physical weapon, demonstrated through moves like Overheat, Bullet String, and Pentachromatic Strings. He has the unique ability to attach himself to intangible objects such as clouds for an upward surge. His skillset includes creating an identical replica of himself using Black Knight technique, constructed entirely from compressed string. Among his most powerful attacks is Birdcage, capable of cutting through anything in its path and encircling the width of Dressrosa itself. Remarkably, his strings can grow within his body, aiding rapid recovery from severe wounds.
Apart from the existing strength of his String-based powers, Doflamingo has activated the Ito Ito no Mi, making him the first character in the series known to have awakened their Devil Fruit abilities. This newfound ability enables Doflamingo to transform his environment into strings, thereby expanding the resources for his physical assaults.
Kuri Kuri no Mi
Not So Sweet Cream
- User: Charlotte Opera
The Kuri Kuri Fruit grants its wielder the power to produce and command dairy cream. Although not commonly associated with combat, this cream can prove deadly in the realm of the Kuri Kuri Fruit. The sugar within the cream has the capacity to inflict second or third-degree burns. Similar to Charlotte Opera, who can discharge the cream, and Magellan, who uses poison from the Doku Doku Fruit, the user is also coated in this cream.
This new development allows the cream to serve as a protective barrier against unwanted touch due to its ability to cause burns. However, there are strategies to circumvent this barrier. For instance, Jinbe, who employs water in his Fish-Man Karate techniques, can dilute the cream sufficiently and still attack Opera, neutralizing his main defense mechanism.
Mochi Mochi no Mi
Just Desserts
- User: Charlotte Katakuri
In essence, the abilities of the Mochi Mochi no Mi are similar to those of the Gomu Gomu no Mi, but unlike the latter, which was found to be based on a legendary figure, no such revelation has been made about the former. The power of the Mochi Mochi no Mi is believed to simply be an extraordinary amount of mochi, a traditional Japanese food made from glutinous rice. This rice is utilized in a variety of dishes, including desserts like cakes, ice cream, and even donuts. Despite this, the Mochi Mochi no Mi remains distinctive, even among Devil Fruits categorized as Paramecia.
This substance displays characteristics similar to Logia-type abilities, enabling the user to transform into soft mochi dough when injured, unless countered with Armament Haki or Seastone. The pliable dough can be shaped into restraints or shields in various forms. Charlotte Katakuri frequently employs it in conjunction with Armament Haki, solidifying its form and imbuing it with destructive properties. Notably, Katakuri has awakened the Mochi Mochi no Mi, which enables his surroundings to also transform into mochi dough. Katakuri typically molds this dough into arms, which he further strengthens with Armament Haki, turning the doughy limbs into a barrage of fists that he can hurl at opponents.
