Summary
- Many powerful Devil Fruits in One Piece remain unnamed, like Lafitte’s mysterious fruit.
- The Jailer Beasts have basic awakened Zoan Devil Fruits that still don’t have revealed names, which greatly enhanced their strength.
- Unique and strong Devil Fruits like the Cerberus and Bakotsu Mythical Zoans still lack official names, showcasing intriguing abilities.
One captivating aspect of the universe in One Piece lies in the naming system of its Devil Fruits, where each magical fruit is thoughtfully named to clearly denote its category and the unique ability it bestows upon its consumer in a concise manner.
Yet, it’s quite intriguing that numerous Devil Fruits in this story remain unnamed, neither by characters within the plot nor by Eiichiro Oda in additional content. This is unfortunate because some of these unidentified Devil Fruits are exceptionally powerful and here are the most notable instances where they’ve gone unnamed.
Unnamed Winged Devil Fruit
Eaten By Lafitte
- Debut: Chapter 542 (Manga) Episode 444 (Anime)
One distinctive trait that makes the Blackbeard Pirates stand out compared to other groups is their propensity for targeting powerful Devil Fruit users with the intent of stealing their abilities from them. Unlike many members of this crew who obtained their Devil Fruits more recently, Lafitte has been wielding his fruit since before the time leap, and despite the passage of time, the identity of his enigmatic fruit remains a secret.
During the thrilling Impel Down Arc, I found myself captivated by a moment where I sported a pair of grand, gleaming white wings upon my back. These magnificent feathers granted me the ability to take flight, leaving many fans speculating whether it was the result of a typical bird Zoan Devil Fruit, such as the Dove or Owl, or perhaps even a rare Mythical Zoan, like an Angel or Siren. Whatever its true identity may be, this extraordinary trait likely accounts for my uncanny speed and agility.
Several Unnamed Awakened Zoans
Eaten By The Jailer Beasts
- Debut: Chapter 525 (Manga) Episode 422 (Anime)
It’s often overlooked by many “One Piece” enthusiasts that the four Jailer Beasts from Impel Down were actually the initial characters in the series to possess Awakened Devil Fruit powers. What’s peculiar is that their specific Devil Fruit names remain unknown, which seems unusual given that they appear to be ordinary Zoans without any significant need for secrecy surrounding them.
The Minotaur, Minorhinoceros, Minokoala, and Minozebra each consumed creatures named Zoan, suggesting their Devil Fruits’ names likely follow a pattern seen in other Zoans within the series. However, these Jailer Beasts, despite their erratic behavior and newly awakened powers, are remarkably powerful and robust combatants. They prove themselves worthy of protecting the largest prison facility on the planet.
Unnamed Cerberus Devil Fruit
“Eaten” By Cerberus (Sword)
- Debut: Chapter 1137 (Manga)
The idea of objects being consumed by Devil Fruits has been both strange yet captivating throughout the series, and a particularly powerful one was just recently introduced in the manga. Cerberus, which is Figarland Shamrock’s sword (Shanks’ twin brother), possesses the ability to transform into the legendary three-headed dog, Cerberus.
This weapon possesses such immense power that it managed to injure Loki even during his imprisonment, and let’s not forget its ability to separate into three distinct heads which can then be fired at an enemy from a distance. As for the name of this particular Devil Fruit, although it hasn’t been officially disclosed yet, given similar dog-type Zoans within the series, it’s highly likely that it will go by Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Cerberus.
Unnamed Damage Conversion Devil Fruit
Eaten By Urouge
- Debut: Chapter 508 (Manga) Episode 401 (Anime)
During the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, Oda initially kept the powers of the “Worst Generation” pirates a secret by not naming their Devil Fruits for quite some time. Characters like Eustass Kid, Scratchmen Apoo, and Jewelry Bonney are among those whose powers were later unveiled in subsequent story arcs. However, one member of this group still hasn’t had their Devil Fruit named officially yet.
Urouge,” affectionately known as the “Mad Monk,” consumed an unnamed Paramecia type Devil Fruit, which enables him to transform harm inflicted upon him into raw physical power. This proves beneficial during combat situations, as demonstrated when Urouge traded blows with a Pacifista shortly after his introduction. Despite being part of the notorious Worst Generation, this is the sole fruit among them that remains nameless. However, if Urouge becomes pivotal to the plot in the upcoming storyline, it’s likely we’ll learn its name soon enough.
The Legendary Devil Fruit Of Elbaf
Eaten By Loki
- Debut: Mentioned in Chapter 1130 (Manga)
Up until now, my attention has been primarily drawn towards a character named Loki, who is often referred to as the “cursed prince” of this land. He’s been jailed and banished due to unfounded accusations that he murdered his father, King Harald. To add fuel to the fire, the people here believe that Loki might have committed this act in pursuit of a powerful Devil Fruit that King Harald was protecting.
In contrast to all other unnamed Devil Fruits in the series, Loki’s abilities remain largely a mystery, although fans have put forth several convincing hypotheses regarding their true nature. Moreover, it is speculated that Loki’s Devil Fruit powers might be linked to his warhammer, Ragnir, which has the capacity to conjure massive bolts of lightning from the heavens.
Unnamed Itsumade Devil Fruit
Eaten By Marcus Mars
- Debut: Chapter 1110 (Manga)
It was incredibly surprising to discover that the Five Elders are skilled warriors who possess powerful mythical Zoan Devil Fruits, and yet, we still don’t know the names of these five fruits. For example, Marcus Mars, the Warrior God of the Environment, has the ability to transform into a legendary bird with a serpentine body known as Itsumade.
Using a simpler, more descriptive phrase: Mars can fly through space and breathe intense flames at foes. Just like the other Elders, he’s activated his Devil Fruit, possesses an incredibly potent Haki, and shares a mysterious link with Imu that grants him additional unique powers.
Unnamed Sandworm Devil Fruit
Eaten By Shepherd Ju Peter
- Debut: Chapter 1110 (Manga)
Regarding the deity of farming, known as Shepherd Ju Peter, he consumed a mysterious Devil Fruit that transformed him into a colossal sandworm, reminiscent of those depicted in the Dune series. His standout and potent ability is his gust of vacuum breath, which he employs to swiftly suck up everything and everyone around him in an instant.
Afterwards, he can spew out everything he’s gathered, resulting in a devastating rain of rubble. Additionally, Ju Peter has the ability to burrow through the earth for mobility or to catch foes off guard. It’s also worth noting that he possesses the same extraordinary abilities as the other Five Elders (Awakening, Haki, Abyss, etc).
Unnamed Fengxi Devil Fruit
Eaten By Topman Warcury
- Debut: Chapter 1110 (Manga)
In simpler terms, Topman Warcury, also known as the Divine Champion of Justice, consumed an unnamed mythical creature from Chinese lore, which transforms him into a colossal boar monster known as Fengxi. This unique Devil Fruit appears to be better suited for close-quarters combat, as demonstrated by his fearless engagement with powerful opponents such as Monkey D. Luffy, Dorry, Brogy, and Emet.
In his Fengxi form, Warcury exhibits overwhelming physical power and astonishing resilience, as even Luffy – a character capable of utilizing Haki to breach Kaido’s defenses – sustained injuries upon attempting an attack. Furthermore, Warcury possesses additional abilities: he can empower his tusks to act as lethal blades in combat against adversaries.
Unnamed Bakotsu Devil Fruit
Eaten By Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro
- Debut: Chapter 1110 (Manga)
It’s undeniable that among the Five Elders, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, known as the God of Finance and Warrior, has consumed a unique and captivating Devil Fruit unlike any other. This special fruit grants him the power to transform into a legendary skeletal steed called Bakotsu. He employs this extraordinary metamorphosis to boost his skills in sword-fighting.
In a combined shape, Nusjuro transforms into a skeletal centaur, which allows him to sprint swiftly and launch powerful attacks using his sword. To add to the difficulties for his adversaries, he boasts incredible strength and has the ability to generate ice that instantly freezes them while in this form. Among all fighters in the group, Nusjuro appears to be the most skilled, as he’s almost always seen wielding his sword.
Unnamed Gyuki Devil Fruit
Eaten By Jaygarcia Saturn
- Debut: Chapter 1094 (Manga) Episode 1128 (Anime)
In the Egghead Arc, and as the initial member among the Five Elders to set foot on the island, Jaygarcia Saturn, the Divine Warrior of Science, had ample opportunity to demonstrate his extraordinary abilities derived from the Devil Fruit. Capable of metamorphosing into a fearsome Gyuki, a mythical creature resembling both a bull and a spider, this being possesses lethal venom that can incinerate objects and individuals. This destructive power can be deployed in two ways: by injecting the venom through his legs or by expelling it as orb-shaped projectiles when he spits them out.
In a show of immense strength, Gyuki’s form on Saturn left his opponents, including the Straw Hats, Vegapunk, Bonney, and Kuma, struggling to keep up. Effortlessly, he outmatched them all. Much like his fellow characters, his power was amplified by extra abilities such as his Awakening, Haki, and the Abyss. What makes this Devil Fruit intriguing is that it remains unnamed despite being circulated after Saturn’s death at Imu’s hands. It’s a mystery whether Figarland Garling, his potential successor, has inherited the fruit.
