It appears that update 1.04 for Deltarune, released across all platforms, could potentially be the last one. After the unveiling of Chapters 3 and 4, developer Toby Fox has been releasing patches to refine the game and fix issues. However, it seems that following update 1.04, no further updates are planned for Deltarune.
After revolutionizing gaming with Undertale, Toby Fox introduced Deltarune, further developing its essential elements. Although not a traditional sequel (or prequel), Deltarune is a spiritual successor offering a parallel narrative to Undertale, while maintaining common themes and characters in a distinct continuity. Yet, Deltarune retains the peculiar, distinctive role-playing style of Undertale, inviting players into a mystical land called the Dark World where they confront diverse creatures in turn-based combat infused with bullet-hell elements-even allowing players to opt for either fighting or sparing enemies, as in Undertale. Chapters 1 and 2 were released in 2018 and 2021, while Chapters 3 and 4 debuted on June 5, 2025, on Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC, and PlayStation platforms.
Currently, the developer has released an update (1.04) intended to enhance the performance of Chapters 3 and 4 in Deltarune. The accompanying patch notes suggest that no further updates are currently being planned. This could imply that this latest update might be the final one for Deltarune. Fortunately, these changes have been implemented across all platforms where Deltarune is available.
Similar to the last Deltarune update from July, this new release focuses on rectifying numerous bugs in Chapters 3 and 4, as well as some additional ones for the remaining chapters. In Chapter 3, players experienced two crashes: one occurred when throwing a shell and examining it as it breaks, while another happened when inspecting waterlogged binoculars – both problems have been successfully addressed. Chapter 4 had a few errors corrected, along with an adjustment to the speed of bullets for one of Jackenstein’s attacks. Furthermore, two fixes were implemented to tackle issues exclusive to the Switch 2 version, such as the “Main Performance” minigame and a bug that appeared at the end of battles.
In addition to some minor visual and text adjustments, and addressing an issue with keyboard customization upon connecting a new controller, the game has also received a solution. Players are currently immersed in Chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune, and its developers have confirmed that Chapter 5 will be released within the year 2026.
