Breaking: Nigeria Dismissed Tax Evasion Charges Against Binance Executives

As an analyst with extensive experience in international tax law and regulatory compliance, I believe this development in the Binance tax evasion case in Nigeria is a positive step towards resolving the matter fairly. The decision by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to drop charges against Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla is a welcome move, as it acknowledges the complexity of international business operations and the need for due process in legal proceedings.

Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) rejected the accusations against Binance‘s executives, Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, during a court hearing on Friday. Nevertheless, the revenue service continues to pursue tax evasion allegations against Binance alone.

Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla Free From Tax Charges

The spokesperson from Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service announced that the agency has withdrawn the accusations against Binance executives Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla. However, these individuals remain in Nigerian custody as the legal proceedings continue.

The executives of Binance, including Tigran Gambaryan, the head of crime compliance, have been released after the Fiscal Responsibility Commission in Nigeria (FIRS) reconsidered the accusations against them. They are now exempt from attending court proceedings related to the alleged tax evasion case. However, Binance remains committed to contesting the tax evasion charges instigated by the Nigerian FIRS.

Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla will persist in dealing with money laundering allegations, as their trial is set to commence following the denial of Gambaryan’s bail request. He remains imprisoned at Kuje prison, where he has been afflicted by Malaria. US legislators have urged President Biden to intervene and secure Gambaryan’s release, expressing concern that Nigeria is holding a Binance executive as a hostage.

The next hearing in the money laundering trial is scheduled for June 19.
