A novice in the Pokemon Trading Card Game experienced an unbelievable stroke of luck when their initial pull yielded an Ex card featuring Lillie’s Clefairy. This rare find is among several coveted chase cards that the Pokemon TCG introduced in 2025, and it rapidly gained immense popularity within the community.
In 1999, the first Clefairy trading card was introduced in the Pokémon TCG Base Set, created by the renowned artist Ken Sugimori. Since then, this Generation 1 Pokémon has amassed approximately 30 cards across various releases, with types ranging from Colorless to Fairy and Psychic. Notably, Clefairy doesn’t have as many high-rarity cards compared to other popular Kanto monsters like Charizard and Mewtwo. However, it does boast one highly sought-after card that has sparked excitement among Pokémon TCG enthusiasts, and a lucky fan recently managed to obtain this coveted card.
Brand New Pokemon TCG Fan Pulls Their First Ex Card, Gets Lillie’s Clefairy
In the Reddit community dedicated to the Pokemon Trading Card Game, user v4mpyy__ recently shared their first exclusive pull – Lillie’s Clefairy. Thrilled, they revealed that they are new to collecting Pokemon cards, having become a fan less than a month ago. Fellow Redditors congratulated them on the rare find, as Lillie’s Clefairy is an Ex Special Illustration Rare card, one of the scarcest categories in the Pokemon TCG. Based on data from PokeDATA, a single, unopened Lillie’s Clefairy ex can fetch around $123.19 on eBay, with various copies selling for prices between $400 and $600. The most expensive sale ever recorded by the site was for a raw card that sold for $700.
In March of 2025, Lillie’s Clefairy made its debut as part of the ninth expansion pack, titled Journey Together, which was launched during the Scarlet and Violet era. This expansion signified the comeback of collectible Pokémon cards for trainers. The Journey Together collection offers 190 cards to gather, and among them are four distinct versions of Lillie’s Clefairy ex. The card obtained by OP showcases adorable artwork created by Susumu Maeya. In contrast, the Regular and Ultra Rare editions showcase artwork by 5ban Graphics, while the Promotional SVP card boasts illustrations by PLANETA Tsuji.

2025 is a fantastic year for Pokemon TCG enthusiasts, with numerous new releases keeping fans excited! The most recent addition is the Black Bolt and White Flare set, which commemorates the pocket monsters of Unova and introduces the freshly minted Black White Rare card rarity. Hot on its heels, Mega Evolution will be hitting stores on September 26th, boasting more than 180 cards and reintroducing Mega Evolutions as Pokemon transformations!
