As an enthusiastic Elden Ring player delving into the game files post-Duos update, rumors suggest that I stumbled upon hints alluding to an intriguing Endless Mode that might be in the works!
According to PC Gamer, it’s rumored that this new game mode is titled ‘Deep of Night’. In this mode, you’ll be teamed with other skilled players to battle your way through a new ranking system. Players speculate that this new system could function in a manner similar to the ranking system in Armored Core 6.
Currently, the primary resources for information about this endless mode stem from a Reddit post written by a user known as Adminisitrator and a YouTube video uploaded by Scavinjx. Upon exploring various Reddit discussions, it seems that the initial discovery of the files could be credited to a user called Supuritto, who initially shared their findings on the Chinese social media platform BiliBili.
As a gamer, I’d say it like this: “The Deep of Night mode plunges you into an endless night battlefield. Each victory elevates your rank and adds some serious depth to your gaming experience. The darkness here seems to stretch on forever, getting progressively tougher as you delve deeper – just like a classic horror movie!
According to data analysts, your journey will involve navigating five different levels, each containing 999 rankings for you to climb through (except the fifth level reserved for top-tier players who have achieved a rating of 6000 or more in boss fights). If you lose a battle, you’ll drop down both in ranking and level, but it seems that once you pass the first level, you won’t be pushed back below the second. I suspect this rule might be implemented to discourage persistent low-level grinding by experienced players.
In the updated game, the post showcases images of new rewards called “depth relics.” These can be equipped in three additional slots specifically for “Deep of Night” runs. These relics provide two beneficial effects along with one potential detrimental effect. Similarly, new weapons function similarly, such as a powerful Omenkiller cleaver that increases your health recovery and resistance to damage, but heightens the damage inflicted by the encroaching night. Some enemies and bosses appear to have “magmafied” versions, making them more orange in color and presumably capable of dealing increased heat-based damage.
Just as with leaks and datamines, it’s advisable to approach this information cautiously until FromSoftware officially confirms the existence of the Deep of Night mode. If it indeed materializes, it seems promising as an engaging replacement for the current weekly boss rotation, which some might find lacking in certain aspects. However, my personal experience suggests I may jump in headfirst and find myself immersed quite rapidly, much like Deryck Whibley from Sum 41.
