EA has clarified their statement about the upcoming open beta for Battlefield 6, confirming that it will include AI-controlled opponents (bots). The game’s publisher wants to reassure players that at this time, bots are only being used in a limited capacity. They also provided an option for players to opt out and play exclusively against human opponents.
The trial run for the early version of ‘Battlefield 6’, known as the open beta, started on Thursday, August 7. However, it is only accessible to individuals who registered for testing through Battlefield Labs, EA Play Pro subscribers, or those who received an access key from the game’s recent multiplayer unveiling event. The full-fledged ‘open beta’ will commence on Saturday, August 9, allowing a wider audience to participate.
AI Bots Are Limited to One Battlefield 6 Open Beta Playlist
During the beginning of the test, players of the Battlefield 6 open beta began noticing something intriguing – it seemed as though certain matches included AI-controlled opponents. Earlier hints from Electronic Arts (EA) had suggested this might be the case, and now, in an official statement, EA has provided more details about this feature. According to the publisher, bots are only present in the Training Grounds playlists at this time, meaning they’re currently exclusive to Breakthrough Initiation.

Battlefield 6 Uses Bots for a Smoother Learning Experience, EA Says
In my opinion as an enthusiastic gamer, Breakthrough Initiation acts as your gateway into the thrilling Breakthrough mode. Designed for intense battles among sixteen players, it fills in any gaps with AI-managed troops. Electronic Arts explains that this setup is meant to help newcomers grasp the intricacies of the fresh gameplay style without being overwhelmed by human-only, large-scale matches. They refer to these training grounds as playlists that introduce players to the fundamental aspects of Breakthrough, providing a more seamless experience than a standard lobby. As published by EA, these introductory playlists are accessible only during the first fifteen ranks of the Battlefield 6 open beta mode and vanish after that.

It appears that Electronic Arts decided to clarify the use of bots in Battlefield 6 following the online criticism when it was first confirmed. Originally, the publisher stated that artificial intelligence-controlled opponents would primarily be used to fill multiplayer matches, which is a common tactic in modern competitive shooters. Players who dislike the idea of playing alongside bots can opt out during the open beta by choosing Breakthrough from the “Featured” playlist row. This option should also be available in the final version of the game.
Introducing playlists at Training Grounds aim to familiarize individuals with fundamental aspects of Breakthrough, providing a more seamless journey compared to a complete lobby.
The current test is set to end on Sunday, August 10th. Following this, another open beta weekend for Battlefield 6 is planned from August 14th through the 17th. At the moment, it’s uncertain if any additional tests will occur before the game’s scheduled release on October 10th.
