Doom: The Dark Ages’ latest free update introduces the Ripatorium, an endless arena game mode.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that ID Software recently unveiled the latest addition to their cherished Doom series this year – Doom: The Dark Ages. Although the initial launch faced some hiccups, it’s now making headlines as the ‘biggest launch’ ever for ID Software! It appears the developers aren’t slowing down, as the game has just been blessed with a fresh content update, offering a new game mode, free cosmetic skins, and more goodies for us enthusiasts.
Doom: The Dark Ages Ripatorium Update is Now Live
Kicking off with the Ripatorium, the game Doom: The Dark Ages presents a fresh gameplay option where players design their own battle scenarios across three distinct arenas. This new feature empowers gamers to create exclusive experiences tailored to their tastes, which they can further fine-tune based on personal preferences. Here’s how it operates:
1. Ripatorium – A central hub for designing combat encounters
2. Three unique arenas to choose from
3. Customizable experiences according to player preferences
4. Players design their own battles
5. Tailored gaming experience for each player
- The new Encounter manager menu allows players to adjust the type and quantity of demons to spawn, set a time limit or enable the Endless mode, and use the respawn counter to add even more customisation.
- The three arenas are City of Ry’uul, Village of Khalim, and Harbour of Souls.
- There’s also a jukebox for players to select a music track for their custom encounter.
Beyond this, the latest version introduces a Benchmark mode feature, enabling players to establish a continuous playlist of benchmark mode sequences. Also included are two fresh skins: The Quakecon Doom Slayer Skin and The Perfection Doom Slayer Skin. You can obtain the Quakecon skin by connecting your platform to Bethesda.net and playing Doom: The Dark Ages from August 7 to September 1. To get The Perfection skin, complete all Ripatorium arenas.
For those eager readers, you’re welcome to explore the full details about the latest game enhancements, tweaks, extra game options, troubleshooting changes, and more in the official update summary.
