For some time now, there’s been talk of a game that could serve as the spiritual sequel to Metal Gear Solid (assuming Death Stranding 2 isn’t it yet), but details about it are scarce. The title of this new project is Physint, and like Metal Gear Solid, it falls under the category of action espionage games.
Kojima’s upcoming project is poised to be another grand, movie-like adventure, merging filmmaking and conventional gaming even more. Interestingly, though, in a recent conversation, Kojima shared that he is currently working on this project all by himself.
All Alone
Enthusiasts of Hideo Kojima’s work are positively buzzing about the creator re-entering the action espionage genre, a full decade since his departure from Konami and stepping away from Metal Gear Solid. Recently, during an interview, he was questioned about the MGS series, and when asked if he intends to play the Snake Eater remake, he merely chuckled in response.
It’s anticipated that, regardless of its specific form, Physint will make its debut with whatever follows the current plans for PlayStation, which appear to be centered around the PlayStation 6. Was it unexpected that a different naming pattern might arise?
During an interview with Indie Wire, Hideo Kojima shared some insights about Physint. He mentioned that currently, he’s working on a project independently. While the details were scarce, this revelation offered some insight into his current work.
(I’m) also doing ‘Physint’ all by myself because that’s at the conceptual stage.
He’s coordinating the project called Physint, while also managing the development process of OD and providing support after the release of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which debuted a few weeks back and has been causing quite a stir.
Setting out on a long journey requires taking the first, crucial step, and for our hero Hideo, that initial stride is him harnessing his extraordinary intellect to devise an idea that’s truly unique to him.
