Jujutsu Kaisen Author Gege Pays Tribute To One Piece

As an observer, I’ve witnessed the meteoric rise of Gege Akutami, who has made a significant mark in the world of manga with his action-packed series, “Jujutsu Kaisen.” In a short span of time, this manga has solidified itself as one of the most influential titles in Weekly Shonen Jump. Remarkably, it surpassed sales records set by popular series like My Hero Academia, Blue Lock, and even the venerable One Piece. The manga concluded in 2024, but Gege Akutami took a break for recovery afterward. However, on August 10, 2025, he astonished his fans with an unexpected announcement.

Gege Akutami’s Gorosei Art Has Been Revealed

The JJK Author Drew The Art For The Cards Of Five Elders

  • Gege Akutami drew the Gorosei cards
  • He also provided an update on his current health

On One Piece Day, a series of One Piece cards designed by Gege Akutami were unveiled. These cards, specifically the ones depicting the Five Elders, were created under the supervision of JJK’s author. The transformed versions of the Five Elders depicted on these cards appeared quite intimidating.

Additionally, Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, made a statement regarding his current health. This statement revealed that he faced severe health issues following the completion of Jujutsu Kaisen. However, after receiving advice from Eiichiro Oda, he visited another hospital and has since shown signs of recovery.

Beyond just unveiling the latest One Piece trading cards, there were two significant revelations. Firstly, after many months of anticipation, it has officially been disclosed that the second live-action season of One Piece will premiere in 2026. Given the show’s impressive track record, a third season is also in the works.

Secondly, an anime adaptation of the One Piece Heroines novel is on the horizon. This series will delve into the stories of some of the most beloved female characters from the One Piece universe.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Is On The Way

JJK Season 3 Will Surpass Expectations

Previously mentioned, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has concluded, however, the anime adaptation continues. To date, we’ve had two seasons, with a third in production. Regrettably, an official release date for the third season hasn’t been disclosed yet, as it appears the studio is still working on its completion.

MAPPA has established lofty benchmarks that require substantial effort to match. Given this, it makes sense why the studio isn’t hurrying the production process. Nevertheless, Jujutsu Kaisen hinted at several announcements on August 18, 2025, which could very well be connected to the anime’s premiere date.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
