Peak’s First Major Update Adds a New Biome, Items, and More

Today marks the debut of Peak’s first significant content upgrade, titled The Mesa. This expansion introduces a novel biome, fresh items, new achievements, and even more intriguing enigmas to explore.

Peak, the joint climbing adventure by Aggro Crabs and Landfall, has been thriving on Steam since its debut, selling over 5 million copies in just its first month. The developers have been consistently working on updates and recently introduced the Cannibalism feature. But there’s more to look forward to in the latest update.

Peak’s ‘The Mesa’ Update is Live Now

New Peak Content

In their recent update, Peak introduces a new landscape called The Mesa, set to debut next week in every game session. Starting then, the game world will alternate between The Mesa and the previous Alpine biome. As an exciting exploration opportunity, there are now ten unique badges to acquire within this new land, with some offering players new stylish rewards upon collection.

With the latest update, Peak’s The Mesa, players are finding themselves traversing a scorching hot desert landscape under the intense sun. In this unexplored environment, they will require some essential items to ensure their safety and survival. These new additions include Balloons, Scout Cannon, Parasol, Sunscreen, Aloe Vera, and Dynamite. An exciting surprise also awaits them at The Kiln. Additionally, a tornado was hinted at in the recent trailer for this update.

New Options and Balancing Changes

This update introduces a ‘Bug Phobia Mode’ specifically for players who are uneasy around insects like spiders or other crawling creatures since they will be abundant in the Mesa. Players now have the option to adjust settings using their controllers, and the fog in the Tropics will rise at a slower pace. The heat status now decreases faster but takes slightly longer to build up. Moreover, hot rocks in the Caldera will cause more heat damage to players.

Bug Fixes

  • Improved performance across the board on the mountain.
  • Fixed an issue where players could teleport after a rusty piton they were hanging onto breaks.
  • Fixed players sometimes obtaining the Naturalist Badge despite eating packaged food.
  • Prevented players from interacting with their backpack while passed out.
  • Adjusted luggage collision to prevent players from getting their legs stuck in it
  • Fixed an issue where the Bugle of Friendship would still play its audio and visual effects when out of juice.
  • Fixed an issue where biome-specific loot could sometimes show up in luggage in the wrong biome.

Moving forward with updates, the developers are still uncertain about what’s to come and wish to avoid over-promising. As they progress, they will share any new developments with the community. For the moment, however, the focus is solely on fixing bugs and ensuring stability for the game titled ‘Peak’.

In another development, it seems that the creators of Peak prefer their game to be pirated over being played on a copycat platform like Roblox. I’m curious about your views on Peak’s latest update for The Mesa – what do you think?
