Known for being a particularly frustrating deck to play against, many expected its decline with the latest release of sets. However, it appears that DarkTina has other strategies up its sleeve when it comes to dominating Pokémon TCG Pocket’s gameplay landscape.

The video game developer DeNA, in their version of Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, has added cards similar to Oricorio, but it seems DarkTina’s power remains largely unchecked. This situation is often attributed to the fundamental mechanics of the game being susceptible to issues with energy production and damage inflicted on the playing field. Essentially, critics suggest that DarkTina is difficult to balance because it can take advantage of combat vulnerabilities or loopholes in the game’s design.

DarkTina Has Become Pokemon TCG Pocket’s ‘Tier 0’ Deck

Following a short dip in popularity, the combination of Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Darkrai EX and Giratina EX has regained its position as the leading meta deck. Surprisingly, these decks, now more finely tuned, have reached unprecedented levels with a win rate of 52.92% – surpassing their own record from the past three years and setting a new benchmark (as reported by LimitlessTCG). In its heyday, it previously managed an average win rate of around 54%.

Currently, the future of meta (metagame) remains uncertain, but one thing that’s clear is that the duo of Giratina EX and Darkrai EX is shaping up to be a formidable Tier 0 deck. For those who are not familiar with the term, a Tier 0 deck signifies a card game combination so potent it is extremely challenging, if not impossible, for other combos or decks to defeat.

In competitive card games like Pokémon TCG Pocket, it’s not unusual for dominant “Tier 0” decks to emerge. Typically, game developers strive to prevent this by regularly adjusting the game dynamics (metagame) and introducing fresh versions, a strategy that Pokémon TCG Pocket hasn’t fully implemented yet. The next chance for developer DeNA to dethrone DarkTina could be with the upcoming miniset, A4a, which may introduce Mega Evolutions as a potential game-changer.

It seems that only Silvally and Oricorio strategies have been able to challenge DarkTina effectively, with these matchups yielding a win rate of over 60%. However, the balance in Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s meta remains questionable unless the game’s developer implements long-term fixes. For instance, providing a dependable method to protect Benched Pokémon from attackers like Darkrai EX and enhancing debuff cards to hinder Giratina EX’s Energy accumulation effect could help achieve balance.
