During the initial weekend of the beta testing for Battlefield 6, its publisher EA reported an impressive victory, as the game’s player count exceeded the all-time high concurrent player record on Steam previously held by Call of Duty, encompassing Black Ops 6, Warzone, and other titles. Approximately three years ago, Call of Duty reached a peak of around 491,000 concurrent players on Steam. Currently, Call of Duty’s highest daily peak averages at about 60,000 concurrent players, a figure that Battlefield 6 effortlessly surpassed during its beta phase. On the 9th of August, merely two days into the test, Battlefield 6 boasted over 521,000 concurrent players on Steam, ranking it among the most popular games on the platform.
Battlefield 6 Open Beta Weekend 2 Has Some Big Issues
For those who missed the initial playtest, here’s some exciting news! The second open beta weekend for Battlefield 6 has officially begun. On Steam alone, over 274,000 players are currently engaged in the beta, with numbers still rising. However, not all experiences seem positive as reported by Twitter user Battlefield Bulletin. Some issues have surfaced during Weekend 2, including prolonged matchmaking times, error messages upon attempting to join a playlist, and troubles with the party system, among other problems such as missing DLSS/DLAA settings.
It’s important to note that since Battlefield 6 is currently in its testing phase (beta), various problems are to be anticipated. This is especially relevant considering over 300,000 gamers are attempting to join on a single platform, leading to extended matchmaking periods. Developers DICE have acknowledged these issues, but they have been encountered by players during the beta phase of Battlefield 6.
Moreover, during the initial weekend, some users reported an unusual problem with Battlefield 6’s anti-cheat software. It seems that this system was requiring players to uninstall Valorant in order to participate in the beta testing, which caused concern among fans.
It appears that the game’s anti-cheat system requires further adjustments prior to the official launch on October 10, as even the initial beta weekend for “Battlefield 6” encountered issues with cheaters. Within the first 24 hours of Weekend 1, players reportedly came across cheaters employing wallhacks in multiplayer games. However, Electronic Arts (EA) claims that their Javelin Anti-cheat system successfully thwarted over 330,000 attempts to cheat or manipulate anti-cheat mechanisms. The studio also disclosed that more than 44,000 potential cheaters were reported on the first day of the beta.
