On August 14th, the team leaders of “Dead by Daylight,” Eric Pope, the community director, and Jose Ramos, the executive producer, announced that they will prioritize quality-of-life improvements rather than releasing new content for the game, which has been experiencing difficulties. The planned public test build (PTB) for “Dead by Daylight” was moved to September, and a scheduled original chapter has been postponed to give the developers more time to work on it.
Amid a heated week for Behaviour Interactive and its Dead by Daylight fans, a new roadmap was unveiled. On August 11, a planned livestream celebrating the Dead by Daylight and The Walking Dead crossover was disrupted by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, preventing any matches from being hosted during the event. In response, Behaviour Interactive expressed regret and promised to collaborate with fans and content creators to tackle significant issues. However, both the DDoS attack and Behaviour Interactive’s initial reaction were met with strong criticism from Dead by Daylight enthusiasts.
Dead by Daylight Is Refocusing on Quality-of-Life Changes Over New Content
After the release of Patch 9.1.2 for “Dead by Daylight”, the game’s development team had a conversation with fans to announce that further changes are imminent. As communicated via Dead by Daylight’s social media, Pope and Ramos disclosed a three-part strategy for the asymmetrical horror game, which will unfold over the next six months at least. The upcoming Play Test Build (PTB) has been delayed until early September; however, another patch is set to be released during the week of August 25th. This forthcoming update aims to rectify issues that arose from the mid-chapter content patch in July, and additional time will be dedicated for polishing and ensuring quality for an original chapter scheduled for the first phase.
In the second portion of the latest plan for “Dead by Daylight,” the timeline stretches from October to January. Instead of the initially planned November chapter, there’ll be an update focusing on addressing more bugs and organizing the winter event. During this phase, The Shape (Michael Myers) will undergo a transformation, while modifications to slugging, camping, and tunneling strategies for Killers are also in store. Other crucial changes for Killer gameplay have already been lined up by Behaviour Interactive. Moving forward, the quality-of-life roadmap’s third phase will span from February 2026 and beyond, with further updates slated for a release in March.

2026 is expected to bring updates to the matchmaking rating system and other changes in Dead by Daylight, although no exact date has been announced yet. Behaviour Interactive has confirmed that all seasonal and special events for Dead by Daylight, including the anticipated return of the 2v8 game format on August 19, will proceed as originally planned.
