Overwatch Support Studio Reveals Co-Op Survival Game ‘Witchspire’

The development team responsible for supporting Overwatch games, Envar, is creating an original co-op survival adventure called Witchspire. Revealed at Gamescom 2025, this upcoming game is projected to launch in the year 2026. As of now, it has only been confirmed to be available on a single platform.

Located in Stockholm, Sweden, Envar Games is a new branch of Envar Entertainment, a worldwide studio that specializes in co-development and art outsourcing. Established in 2020, the company has lent its expertise to several notable projects such as Riot Games’ Legends of Runeterra, Valorant, and Blizzard’s enduringly popular hero shooter Overwatch.

Witchspire Is Envar’s First Original IP

At Gamescom 2025, Envar has revealed their initial original IP titled “Witchspire”. Positioned as a cooperative survival adventure, the game introduces players to the role of fledgling witches exploring a treacherous world teeming with corrupted creatures and ancient ruins concealing magical lore. Players can embark on this journey alone or in teams of up to four, offering both single-player and multiplayer options.

Witchspire Promises Creature Collection, Base Building, and More

In terms of playstyle, the game “Witchspire” is packed with exploration and survival elements, focusing on aspects like creating equipment, subduing magical creatures, and combating various adversaries. The game encourages exploration by unveiling lore tidbits, making the discovery of hidden mysteries a significant part of its play dynamics. Players will navigate “Witchspire‘s” enchanting realm on foot or with a flying broom. A key feature is the ability to tame and summon familiars, which plays a crucial role in both exploration and combat. As such, “Witchspire” can be aptly labeled as a creature-collection game, offering numerous species that can be subdued. Additionally, the game includes a base-building system that offers free placement of structures.

In the realm of today’s top-tier cooperative survival games, I can’t wait to dive into the customization possibilities that Witchspire promises. As a player, I’ll have the freedom to mold my spellcaster’s persona and skills through coven allegiances, handcrafted equipment, and a celestial tech tree. This suggests that progression in Witchspire will be a blend of gear-dependent and level-based advancements. Envar is marketing it as both an open-ended sandbox game and a highly interactive social experience. When it comes to the budget, Witchspire is being labeled as a AA project.

The 2026 timeline mentioned by the Swedish developer for the game Witchspire applies only to its preview version. Initially, this game will debut on Steam Early Access, which means its development will be influenced by player feedback, creating a flexible environment. Currently, it has not been confirmed that Witchspire will be available on any other platforms besides PC.
