Upcoming Steam Game Is Like Realistic Minecraft with Co-Op and Procedural Generation

The game titled Everwind, set to release on Steam, seems to have taken a cue from Minecraft’s distinctive voxel graphics. Although there are obvious parallels between the two games, it’s important to note that Everwind is not simply imitating Minecraft. Instead, it appears to be positioning itself as a standout sandbox indie game on Steam with its own unique charm.

In the realm of classic sandbox games, Minecraft has been influential in sparking numerous independent games on Steam. Yet, most have failed to introduce anything fresh, resulting in disappointing sales and popularity. Contrastingly, Everwind appears to be a potential contender for refreshing the genre with its creative concepts.

Everwind Is a Sandbox Survival Game with Minecraft-Like Graphics

Previously known as SkyVerse, Everwind is being created by Enjoy Studio and will be distributed by DayZ’s publisher, Bohemia Interactive. This game offers an exciting blend of exploration, crafting, gathering resources, farming, spellcasting, and combat in a massive voxel universe. The developer assures that every map and island within the game are procedurally generated, ensuring fresh discoveries with each playthrough. Additionally, there will be a co-op mode available, enabling players to collaborate with friends and construct a mobile castle together. Interested gamers can add Everwind to their wishlist on Steam, as this open-world indie sandbox game is scheduled for early access release in the first half of 2026.

Some people refer to Everwind as a Minecraft-like game using Unreal Engine due to its lifelike voxel graphics. Yet, Enjoy Studio’s upcoming title aims to distinguish itself by incorporating numerous imaginative elements into the Minecraft sandbox model. For instance, the game offers a mobile castle and an airship that functions as the customizable player base. It further allows players to traverse the world across multiple altitudes and more than three distinct biomes, each featuring its own unique, procedurally generated voxel terrains.

Since the announcement in 2024, the game Everwind garnered more than €40,000 on Kickstarter, exceeding its initial goal of €30,000. Apart from being well-received by backers, it has also been added to over 300,000 wishlists on Steam, ranking it among the top 150 most eagerly awaited games on the platform.

As an ardent enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that we’re on track for an early access Steam debut in the first half of 2026, leading up to a full release in early 2027. The exciting part is that Everwind aspires to extend its procedurally generated universe to gaming consoles as well, with crossplay support built into the design. Yet, details about the specific platforms we’re focusing on and whether the console launch will synchronize with the PC release are still under wraps.
