Judas’ Creative Director Talks Villainy System And Development Progress

Ken Levine, the creative director at Judas, has spoken up about Ghost Story Games’ project, providing a glimpse into the game’s progress through regular updates rather than waiting for months between trailers or high-quality visuals. According to Levine, these less polished updates will allow players to gain more frequent insights into the development process while the team stays dedicated to completing the game.

Judas’ Villainy And Relationship System

In this latest update, a fresh addition is introduced named Villainy, setting it apart from games like BioShock or BioShock Infinite where the villain was predetermined. Instead, in Judas, players have the freedom to decide who their adversaries will be. The game’s main trio of characters can potentially be won over as allies, but if neglected, they could switch sides and become enemies.

Levine explains that from this point on, they’ll acquire a fresh set of abilities that can interfere with your moves and thwart your plans,”

“According to Levine, they’ll gain access to a new collection of tools that allow them to disrupt your actions and sabotage your objectives.

The update further emphasizes the game’s narrative focus on character development. Drawing inspiration from Shadow of Mordor’s Nemesis System, Judas aspires to delve more into making interactions with the Big 3 characters significant on an emotional level. These characters will strive to win your trust in various ways, such as offering gifts, assisting you in battles, spreading rumors about opponents, or even revealing hidden truths. The loss of one of these characters is intended to be as poignant as losing a real friend.

Unlike Elizabeth from BioShock Infinite, whom players grew familiar with yet remained somewhat unknown themselves, the main characters in Judas (referred to as The Big 3) will be actively aware of your actions. They’ll respond differently based on how you manage combat, crafting, hacking, and most notably, how you interact with others.

As an ardent follower, I’m eagerly anticipating when I can finally grab a hold of Judas. Though the team is making great strides in development and hitting key milestones, they seem cautious about setting a release date. They prefer to steer clear of promising a date that might get delayed.

However, it’s clear that Judas isn’t fully enjoyable for the players until they have it in their hands. That’s a goal we’re all striving to reach every day,” he noted.
