In essence, my initial impression is that Lost Soul Aside showcases some impressive action game elements, and enthusiasts of the genre are likely to discover aspects they will enjoy within it.
Despite its flaws, “Lost Soul Aside” isn’t a well-crafted game. It’s rough around the edges, feeling awkward and underdeveloped in numerous aspects, particularly its storyline. The plot is unoriginal and confounding, the characters are bland to the point of being comically forgettable, the character designs appear outdated and out of fashion, and at times, the dialogue veers into the realm of pure madness. These elements come together to create a less-than-satisfying narrative journey. Yet, strangely enough, I’m finding myself enjoying it immensely.

However, similar phenomena haven’t quite manifested in the gaming world to the same extent.
I propose that “Lost Soul Aside” could fit into the “so bad it’s good” gaming category due to its puzzling script and lackluster English voice acting, which somehow results in an unexpectedly entertaining experience. For illustration, consider the character Kaser, who exhibits such a high degree of stoicism that it borders on the absurd; he reacts to extraordinary supernatural occurrences with as much excitement as someone discovering a new eatery in their town. At no time does Kaser show a significant level of engagement, and this is not the kind of detached demeanor one might associate with characters like Bayonetta. Quite ironically, it is precisely his lack of investment that makes him enjoyable, at least for me.
The voice acting appears awkward, not because of the talent behind the voices, but due to questionable direction and illogical dialogue. Many conversations between characters seem pointless, filled with explanatory information delivered in an unnatural tone, bordering on a breach of the fourth wall. However, the characters’ emotional responses seldom align with their spoken words. They either sound indifferent towards subjects that should be emotionally charged or overly enthusiastic about trivial, technical matters.
The awkward humor in all this is significantly amplified by the rough character animations found in the game “Lost Soul Aside“, making cutscenes appear like a puppet show with dolls portraying an unusual, mundane drama. Characters such as Louisa exhibit peculiar behavior, and their blank, emotionless eyes add to the eerie feeling they evoke. Watching these bizarre, alien interactions unfold can be quite entertaining, and it’s arguably more captivating than taking the storyline seriously.
The storytelling in “Lost Soul Aside” feels raw and sincere, which might be the reason it feels charmingly humorous. On the other hand, the self-conscious dialogues in “Forspoken” can appear awkward or cringe-worthy.
Lost Soul Aside’s Gameplay Saves the Day
As I delve deeper into the world of “Lost Soul Aside”, my appreciation for its combat system continues to grow. It’s dynamic, swift, and has a cool aesthetic, with innovative features like sword customization adding freshness to the gameplay. Even though the narrative may seem peculiar, it surprisingly adds to my enjoyment, especially during moments when the game shines brightest. One thing is clear, regardless of its flaws, “Lost Soul Aside” radiates a palpable passion, making it challenging not to be captivated by it, in spite of its shortcomings.
