Elden Ring meets Elder Scrolls Morrowind in amazing crossover as modder tells Bethesda to “take note” of FromSoft’s “based” lawyers

Morrowind are among the most memorable video game adventures ever. Many fans dream of a remake or upgrade of Morrowind akin to Oblivion’s quality, but no news has surfaced as leaks suggest only Fallout series remasters are in the works. For now, we can only look forward to an impressive mod that merges the world of Morrowind with Elden Ring, providing an exciting alternative until official updates emerge.

Elden Ring mod ports the world of Elder Scrolls Morrowind

According to PCGamer, an amazing Elden Ring modification is under development that transforms the world of The Lands Between into the open-world of Elder Scrolls Morrowind. This modification is being crafted by InfernoPlus, and has already been viewed by over 350,000 people on YouTube.

Essentially, this mod aims to merge the setting and storyline of Morrowind with the battle mechanics of a Souls game. InfernoPlus has been developing the mod for several months now, but it’s important to note that it remains unfinished as the creator estimates they are only about halfway through the project at this point.

When discussing the development of the mod, InfernoPlus mentions that it was initially designed for the Dark Souls 1 engine, however, the engine struggled to manage how densely populated the Morrowind mainland was. Later, InfernoPlus attempted to use the mod in Dark Souls 3, but it barely fit within the world loading limitations set by the game.

Regarding additional tasks for finishing the mod, “voice acting is one of the final steps” that will be added. Furthermore, in a quirky twist, human NPCs have been portrayed as “default female characters,” while all non-human NPCs have been swapped out for “goats”. This deliberate limitation was imposed to ensure that Morrowind’s characters don’t overload the game engine. Despite some problems, the system generally functions well.

Concerning legal concerns, InfernoPlus seems unbothered by FromSoftware’s lawyers as he believes they are “based out of town”. Regarding Bethesda’s legal team, InfernoPlus addressed them in his video, suggesting they pay attention to how FromSoftware’s legal team is handling their project, and to halt the drafting of a supposedly threatening email since this mod does not infringe upon any copyright. According to InfernoPlus, the reason for this lies in the fact that users must possess both Elden Ring and Elder Scrolls Morrowind for the mod to function, making it comparable to the Tale of Two Wastelands mod which converted Fallout 3 game files into an add-on for New Vegas.
