Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have collaborated to unveil the details of the significant anniversary update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, featuring an array of new game modes, stylish cosmetics, and other enhancements, adding excitement to the popular third-person shooter. Launched on September 9, 2024, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC users.
As we gear up for the anniversary update of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the creators have given us a sneak peek into what’s in store as the game moves into its second year. And let me tell you, fellow enthusiasts, it looks like the content is going to keep rolling in! The developers hinted at a plethora of new features coming our way, encompassing both free updates and paid DLC.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Adds New Modes, Enemies, and More
With the arrival of the 10.0 update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Focus Entertainment offers a sneak peek into the patch notes, providing players with an idea of what to anticipate upon game startup. Upon resuming play, players discover they can participate in a novel Operation dubbed Vortex. This mission transports players back to the Astropathic Relay on Avarax, a location where they must uncover the reason for the relay’s silence while eliminating opposing forces. Players will encounter familiar adversaries along with new challenges featuring unexpected elements. For example, players now have the opportunity to challenge the Mutalith Vortex Beast, a brand-new boss that manipulates reality itself.

It appears that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 plans to build on its popular Siege Mode by introducing two additional game modes – Stratagems and Helbrute Onslaught. In Stratagems mode, players will find a unique PVE (Player vs Environment) challenge, while in Helbrute Onslaught, they can compete against each other in PVP (Player vs Player). Each mode offers exclusive rewards for successful completion, including special weapons and armor pieces.

The sequel to “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine,” developed by Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive, has been a tremendous hit, shifting over seven million copies since its debut in 2024. This number is expected to grow as the developers continue enhancing the game’s existing rich content. With an exciting new update available and additional content on the horizon, enthusiasts of “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2” are brimming with anticipation for its future developments.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Version 10.0 Patch Notes
Greetings Space Marines,
You can find the changelog for the 10.0 Update of Space Marine 2.
NEW FEATURES
NEW OPERATION: VORTEX
At Vortex, you’ll be heading back to the Astropathic Relay on Avarax, which has fallen eerily quiet once more. Your mission is to uncover the reason behind this silence, purge any residual heretical influence from the Relay, and face a formidable adversary hidden within its depths.
NEW ENEMIES
- Mutalith Vortex Beast
The Mutalith Vortex Beast is a fresh boss in Operation Vortex, a colossal, warp-bent monster that brings disarray to reality with twirling vortices. Its claws tear and shatter, while it hurls tempests of enchanted energy at the Astartes.
The Mutalith Vortex Beast is a new enemy in Operation Vortex. It’s a massive, warp-distorted creature that causes chaos by twirling reality around. It attacks with its claws and sends waves of magical power at the Space Marines.
- Chaos Spawn variations
Chaos Spawns are new Majoris enemies that can appear in all Operations featuring the Thousand Sons.
Corrupted Monstrosities, these menacing entities are potent close-combat fighters imbued with ominous arcane power. Encountering them even singly can be intimidating, but they become truly fearsome when they appear in larger groups. Their grotesquely altered limbs provide an assortment of deadly capabilities. It is the responsibility of Space Marines to analyze and eradicate their unholy influence.
NEW WEAPONS
- Power Axe (for PvE and PvP)
The Power Axe is a quick, forceful weapon that can repeatedly attack enemies with intense, linked strikes. Utilized by the Vanguard, Assault, and Bulwark classes, it enables a Space Marine to rain down a flurry of attacks on their adversaries.
This weapon is both powerful and strategically effective. A well-timed defensive move leaves the Marine poised for action, offering a crucial decision moment: either retreat and unleash a destructive energy blast, or push on to maintain an intense sequence of attacks.
The goal in this paraphrase is to preserve the original meaning while using more natural and conversational language that’s easier to read and understand. I avoided technical terms like “perfect parry” and replaced “Power Stance” and “Power Wave” with phrases that suggest similar concepts but are more easily understood by a general audience. Additionally, I tried to maintain the original rhythm and flow while making the sentences feel more fluid and engaging.
- Pyreblaster and Pyrecannon (for PvE)
In this latest version, we’re rolling out two fresh firearms: the Pyreblaster and Pyrecannon, which are designed for the Tactical and Heavy combat roles.
Enemies hit by flamethrowers will now sustain a persistent burn, dealing substantial damage gradually (with the intensity increasing according to the game’s difficulty level). Furthermore, these Minoris foes will move more sluggishly due to the flames.
An effective strategy would be to try to set as many enemies on fire and keep them burning.
NEW PVE MODE “STRATAGEMS”
Weekly and daily, the conditions on the battlefield shift. Successfully executing a strategy rewards you with a fresh type of currency known as “Accolades”.
Reworked Data Refinement Shop on Battle Barge:
The “Data Refinement” store has undergone a name change and now expands its product line to include various new items. In addition, it now accepts redemption for older Community Giveaways and Accolades items.
You can spend Accolades in the “Refinement & Redemption” shop to unlock unique items.
- Added 6 Heroic Weapons to unlock with Accolades
- Added 6 Heroic Armour Pieces
NEW PVP MODE: HELBRUTE ONSLAUGHT
In this game, two groups of Chaos Marines compete for dominance over key locations, with an additional goal of capturing the Helbrute. The team that successfully controls an objective temporarily gains control of the Helbrute. However, control switches to another player chosen at random from those who helped secure the control point. The opposing team can gain control of the Helbrute if they destroy their opponents’ Helbrute and then seize a new designated strategic point.
Managing the Helbrute gives your team a considerable edge, while eliminating it yields substantial points for your team. It’s also worth noting that the Helbrute wields a Thunder Hammer in close combat and a Plasma Cannon from a distance. Moreover, with its unique skill, it can unleash a battle cry to regenerate its health.
NEW PVP MAP: BRIDGE
ADDED 6 CHAOS RELIC ARMOUR SETS FOR PVP
In the Eternal War mode, you can now obtain Armor Sets by earning kills. To unlock each skin, aim for at least 9 kills across over 9 separate battles. The skin for the character you’re currently playing will be yours once you meet this requirement.
NEW ORDEALS ADDED FOR PVP
ADDED NEW FINISHERS
- Full set for Power Axe.
- Full set for all melee weapons against Chaos Spawn.
- 1 new finisher against Biovore
ADDED CHAMPION ARMOUR PIECES FOR CUSTOMISATION (ALL CLASSES)
At last, the much-anticipated feature has been rolled out! Now, you have the freedom to blend diverse segments of the Champion’s Armors across multiple character classes.
Please note that not every armour part will be available for mixing in every class.
NEW SEASON PASS CONTENT:
- Black Templars Champion Pack added.
- Imperial Fists Cosmetic Pack added.
GAMEPLAY & BALANCING TWEAKS

Master-Crafted Bolt Pistol Alpha
- Spread reduction increased from 15% to 30%.
- Recoil reduction increased from 20% to 40%.

Gathalamor Crusade Relic Bolt Pistol
- Spread reduction increased from 55% to 70%.
- Recoil reduction increased from 60% to 80%.
Auto Bolt Rifle:
The Auto Bolt rifle often gets overlooked due to its generic nature, as players tend to switch to more engaging firearms quickly. However, other weapons like the Bolt Rifle, Bolt Carbine, Stalker Bolter, and Heavy Bolt Rifle are always more specialized and efficient in their respective tasks.
The limited number of versions for the Auto Bolt rifle results in a narrow perk tree, making it challenging to find an enjoyable gameplay role with it. A potential solution could be integrating it with other Bolt Rifle variants, but this change might cause issues with saved games and is deemed too risky.
In this revision, we aim to blend the characteristics of all bolt-action weapons, intending to enhance the base gun’s performance. However, there is a concern it might consistently be overshadowed by more focused bolt-action types.
- Base damage increased by 25%.
- Added damage falloff curve from distance. After 20 meters, weapon damage falls by 25%.
- Headshot damage coefficient increased from 1.15 to 1.25 for all versions.
Enhanced Headshot Damage for Heavy Bolt Rifles (Excluding Drogos Reclamation and Ophelian Liberation)
The power of headshots with Heavy Bolt Rifles has been boosted, as the damage multiplier has risen from 1.15 to 1.25 for all versions except Drogos Reclamation and Ophelian Liberation.
- Drogos Reclamation Artificer Heavy Bolt Rifle Beta: Headshot damage coefficient increased from 1.15 to 1.35.
- Ophelian Liberation Relic Heavy Bolt Rifle Beta: Headshot damage coefficient increased from 1.15 to 1.35.
MELEE
Chainsword: Speed increased for all block versions.
Power Sword: Speed increased for all block versions.
Thunder Hammer:
Currently, the main concern with the Thunder Hammer lies in its disputed health restoration, rather than its general efficacy. This aspect will be addressed during the upcoming rework focused on contested health recovery. However, our primary goal at present is to enhance it so that it doesn’t feel less effective compared to other melee weapons.
- Speed increased slightly for all balanced and block versions.
- AoE radius for heavy and charged melee strikes increased by 50%.
GAMEPLAY QOL
- Added a new charged Shield Bash attack for Bulwark class.
In the latest update, we’re enhancing Bulwark’s repertoire of shield maneuvers to enhance the appeal of shield-focused perk builds. We plan to carry on enhancing these options for other classes as well. Although we believe the overall class balance is satisfactory, there’s room for improvement in the variety of build options within each class. This improvement can’t be achieved solely by adjusting numbers.
BALANCING – FIREARMS
Las Fusil: Charging speed decreased from 1.1 sec to 1 sec.
Stalker Bolt Rifle: Rate Of Fire increased from 150 shots per minute to 170 shots per minute.
Occulus Bolt Carbine: Full damage range increased from 20 meters to 30 meters.
